Two cousins drowned tragically while playing by the river

On the morning of March 8, Mr. Le Truong Son - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Diem Commune, Huong Son District, Ha Tinh confirmed the above information with VTC News and added that the bodies of the two children have been handed over to their families for burial according to local customs.

“Maybe while they were playing, the two children accidentally slipped and fell into the water. They are cousins, their families are in difficult circumstances, both families just got off the list of near-poor households at the end of 2022,” Mr. Son added.

Specifically, at 4:00 p.m. on March 7, PVHP (5 years old) and PHM (3 years old), both living in Song Con village, Quang Diem commune, went to play on the banks of the Con River. A while later, many people returning from work saw two pairs of sandals and toys on the bank, suspecting something was wrong, so they shouted and informed the victim's family to search for them.

Upon receiving the news, local authorities and Quang Diem Commune Police, Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team (Huong Son District Police) organized a search.

At around 7:10 p.m., searchers found M.'s body downstream of the Con River, about 800 meters from the accident site. At 9 p.m. the same day, P.'s body was also found, about 1 km downstream from the accident site.

Previously, on March 4, in Ban Long village, Quang Loc commune, Can Loc district (Ha Tinh), there was also a drowning incident that killed 3 people. The victims were: Tran Quoc Toan (24 years old), his sister Tran Thi Ngoc Bich (20 years old) and his nephew Nguyen QH (11 years old).

The leader of Quang Loc Commune People's Committee said: Three people went to the village well to fish. According to the locals' speculation, one of the three people slipped and fell into the well, then they saved each other, leading to all drowning.
