On the morning of November 28 in Hanoi, VTC Corporation held a ceremony to launch the Vietnam Esports Audition team. Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Vietnam Sports Department, Mr. Do Viet Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Esports and Entertainment Association.
The Vietnam Esports Audition Team was established under Decision No. 134 of the Vietnam Esports and Entertainment Association, including 6 athletes: Le Thi Hoai Phuong, Le Ngoc Truong Giang, Roan Cong Thanh, To Y Linh, Nguyen Van Huy and Nguyen Hong Ngoc.
At the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Esports Audition team will compete in 3 categories: men's individual, women's individual and mixed team. Our opponents are Laos, the Philippines and host Thailand.
The Audition competitions will take place from December 10 to 12 in Bangkok (Thailand). The overall Esports competition will take place from December 13 to 19.
Esports (electronic sports) was first introduced into the SEA Games competition system since the 2019 regional sports festival in the Philippines. To date, the Philippines is the leading country in this sport with 7 gold medals, followed by Indonesia and Vietnam with 5 gold medals each.
At the 31st SEA Games at home, the Vietnamese Esports team led the delegation with 4 gold medals.
Audition is a performance event in Esports, appearing for the first time at the 33rd SEA Games. The Thai Esports Federation invited Vietnam since the end of October.
At the event, VTC also officially announced its cooperation with the Vietnam Sports Department to build and develop the Vietnam Sports Channel on a digital platform to inform and promote the image of Vietnamese sports both domestically and internationally.
