On November 27 in Ho Chi Minh City, VNG Corporation and Ho Chi Minh City National University officially launched Saigon AI Hub (SAIH).
This is the first open AI research space in Ho Chi Minh City focusing on solving socio-economic development problems through AI, especially in key areas such as healthcare, education and transportation.
SAIH will support the working environment, infrastructure, technology and necessary conditions to serve AI R&D activities of lecturers, students, experts, young research groups and the technology community.
Located at VNG Campus, SAIH is equipped with a dedicated computing infrastructure system for AI, including GPUs, datasets, cloud services and lab-standard research equipment.
Here, research groups can not only access technological resources but also work, consult, and exchange directly with AI experts from VNG and Ho Chi Minh City National University, shortening the gap from academic research to practical application.

Members of the SAIH advisory board include: Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Permanent Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Former Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University; Mr. Le Hong Minh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNG; Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai - Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University.
SAIH also supports the construction of an open model library (Open Model Hub) to serve the community, and sponsors space for academic competitions, professional workshops and important events in the field of AI.
In the first phase, SAIH plans to attract about 30 researchers from Ho Chi Minh City National University and independent research groups in the city, focusing on researching fundamental models such as large language models (LLM), multimodal models (VLM), AI Agents and industry-specific AI applications.
The project is expected to produce specific academic and applied results, such as publishing at least 3-4 co-authored scientific articles between Ho Chi Minh City National University and VNG in prestigious international journals/conferences; Completing experimental models (PoC - Proof of Concept), minimum viable versions (MVP - Minimum Viable Product) and AI prototypes for evaluation and testing in practice.

Mr. Le Hong Minh - Founder, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VNG shared: “When working with Ho Chi Minh City National University, we clearly saw two major bottlenecks in AI research: model and resources. With resources, VNG commits to long-term investment in the research capacity of schools. With the model, we expect the speed and flexibility of businesses and schools to change and promote the research process, through initiatives such as Saigon AI Hub.
SAIH's goal is to become an open research community, where VNG only plays a supporting and accompanying role. We do not claim any rights or intellectual property rights from research results. The measure of Saigon AI Hub's success is the growth of the R&D community and the ability to solve practical problems of businesses, governments and users."
Previously, in May 2025, VNG and Ho Chi Minh City National University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on strategic cooperation, promoting the 3-House cooperation model: "State - School - Enterprise" according to the Government's orientation.
The launch of Saigon AI Hub is the next step in the MOU implementation roadmap, creating a close bridge between training - research - application. This space opens up opportunities for research results of lecturers, students and independent groups to move closer to testing, deployment and commercialization./.
