Like its "brother" in the same group as the Hyundai Palisade, the new 2027 Kia Telluride is also improved in terms of size. Accordingly, the car is 58 mm longer, 25 mm higher while the wheelbase is increased by 68 mm compared to the previous generation to expand the interior space. Kia describes the design of this large SUV as “unapologetically boxy.” However, the influence of the luxury Range Rover SUV line is still evident in this Korean model, even more so than the Hyundai Palisade. Similar to the Range Rover, the 2027 Kia Telluride has a smooth side profile, hidden door handles that pop out when the doors are unlocked, and vertical taillights.
The headlights of this large SUV are also designed vertically, creating a similarity with the taillights. The front lighting system is emphasized by amber LED daytime running lights and turn signals. Meanwhile, the main headlights have been reduced in size to a small block that almost blends into the grille when turned off. True to Hyundai tradition, the 2027 Kia Telluride also features a variety of grille designs, depending on the trim level. In most trim levels, the grille is partially covered with vertical slats. Not stopping there, the new generation Telluride line also has an off-road-supported X-Pro version with a special suspension system with longer travel, increased ground clearance by 25 mm, tow hooks and off-road tires. Black exterior details and roof rack are also identifying features of the X-Pro version. For those who want the same look as the X-Pro but don't care about off-road capabilities, the 2027 Kia Telluride X-Line is the way to go. The X-Line shares the same design changes as the X-Pro, but uses a standard suspension and its own 21-inch wheels. Inside, the new Telluride's modern dashboard also uses the same wide single-screen layout we're familiar with from other Kia models, with the top-end trims using this space to house two 12.3-inch screens.
The car's entertainment system still supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity and OTA software updates. Buyers can also choose a 12-inch HUD head-up display. The center console has a simpler layout, with many functions moved to the central touchscreen. The remaining buttons are still large and easy to recognize. Thankfully, the confusing arrangement of climate and audio controls seen on the EV6 and some of Kia’s smaller SUVs has been eliminated on the Telluride. The center armrest area is also emphasized by a large handle. Other notable amenities of the car include a 14-speaker Meridian sound system with a 10-inch subwoofer and the Kia myQ Connected Garage feature, which allows the garage door to automatically open or close when the car enters or leaves the house. The car can also connect to a smartphone to control a number of other features remotely. In the US market, the 2027 Kia Telluride will be available in both 7-seat and 8-seat versions. The optional front relaxation seats are designed to be wider with electric calf rests. The Ergo Motion driver's seat comes with airbags that provide flexible adjustment and massage function. In the back are 2 standard business seats with full heating and ventilation features.
Meanwhile, the optional bench seat allows access to the third row without removing the child seat. One of the drawbacks of the old Telluride was the difficulty in accessing the third row, and Kia has fixed this with second-row seats that can lock and slide with the push of a button. The interior of the X-Pro will be trimmed in synthetic carbon fiber instead of the faux wood like other versions... Under the hood of the 2027 Kia Telluride are two engine options, all using a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine. Meanwhile, the car's old V6 engine has been removed. The first is a conventional gasoline engine, producing a maximum capacity of 274 horsepower and a maximum torque of 421 Nm. Compared to the old generation, this engine is 66 horsepower more powerful. Power is transmitted to the front or 4 wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The second is a hybrid powertrain, which adds an electric motor and a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing a total output of 329 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid uses a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard. Kia estimates the fuel consumption of the 2026 Telluride Hybrid to be around 14.88 km/l (about 6.72 l/100 km), equivalent to an operating range of about 965 km on a full tank of fuel. The 2027 Kia Telluride is also fully equipped with advanced ADAS driver assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning and driver attention warning. The car will be manufactured at the West Point plant in Georgia, USA and go on sale in the first quarter of 2026. The selling price of the 2027 Kia Telluride has not been announced yet.
