Launching the photo book '80 years of the Vietnamese National Assembly (1946-2026)'

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first General Election Day (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026), implementing the direction of the Office of the National Assembly and Vietnam News Agency, the News Agency Publishing House coordinated with the Department of Information and Library (Office of the National Assembly) to compile and publish the bilingual Vietnamese - English photo book "80 years of the National Assembly of Vietnam (1946-2026)".

Through a carefully selected system of images and documents, along with short, concise articles, the book has outlined the history of the Vietnamese National Assembly with outstanding milestones during 80 years of formation and development; affirming the role, position and prestige of the National Assembly in the political system, in international relations as well as in the hearts of the people. More than 850 photos are presented scientifically in chronological order, vividly reflecting the turning-point events and activities of 15 National Assembly terms from 1946 to present. The book is presented solemnly, modernly, with high documentary and aesthetic value.

The book consists of four parts. Part one: The birth of the Vietnamese National Assembly; the first National Assembly operated in a democratic republic (1946-1960). This was the period when the National Assembly laid the foundation for constitutionalism, legislation and supreme supervision amid the country's myriad difficulties; at the same time, it established the democratic and innovative nature, affirming its representative role in the cause of building a State of the people, by the people, for the people.

Part 2: The Vietnamese National Assembly in the cause of building socialism in the North, fighting to liberate the South, and unifying the country (1960-1976). Through the system of photo documents, readers can clearly feel the mark of the National Assembly in perfecting the law, consolidating the state apparatus, and mobilizing human and material resources for the frontline. This was the period when the National Assembly strongly promoted its mettle and intelligence, contributing to the complete victory of the cause of national liberation and unification.

Part 3: The Vietnamese National Assembly with the renovation process, promoting the cause of industrialization, modernization of the country and international integration (1976-2021). With rich documentary images, the book reflects the process of the National Assembly perfecting its institutions, innovating its methods of operation, issuing many important decisions to promote socio -economic development, strengthening national defense and security, and expanding foreign relations. This is the period when the National Assembly clearly affirmed its role as a creator, accompanying the country in rapid and sustainable development.

Part Four: The XV National Assembly towards the era of growth (2021-2026). This is considered the central and outstanding part of the book when it recreates the innovation journey, mettle and aspirations of the XV National Assembly in the period 2021-2026, the period when the country enters the era of digital transformation and deep integration. Typical images and documents show that the National Assembly continues to improve the quality of legislation, supervision, and decision on important national issues; promote reform, apply technology, and strengthen parliamentary diplomacy. This is the period when the National Assembly demonstrates the spirit of innovation and modernity, aiming at the goal of sustainable development and prosperity, clearly demonstrated through the basic contents of the 9th and 10th Sessions of the XV National Assembly.

Since the first General Election on January 6, 1946, which marked a milestone in the nation's history, the Vietnamese National Assembly has spent 80 years accompanying the country, associated with the people's aspirations for Independence - Freedom - Happiness. In the difficult, arduous, challenging, and sacrificial circumstances of the resistance war, as well as in peace and unity, with the function of an agency with constitutional, legislative, supreme supervisory powers, deciding on important issues of the country, the National Assembly has fulfilled the responsibilities entrusted by the people; made important contributions to the great victories of the nation; created institutional and legal foundations, and joined the nation in entering a new era.

The publication of the book on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first General Election not only contributes to the propaganda and education of traditions for all classes of people, especially the young generation, but also acknowledges and pays tribute to the contributions of generations of leaders and National Assembly deputies, including those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The work is expected to become a valuable document serving foreign information work, and at the same time a useful reference source for readers and scholars at home and abroad when researching the history of the National Assembly of Vietnam.
