The book's introduction affirms that heritage is the sacred memory of humanity, a persistent flow connecting the layers of the past with the rhythm of present life and the aspirations of the future. In each heritage site, we encounter traces of human creativity, intellect, and soul; we also encounter the strength of the community in the journey of preserving and nurturing the values that constitute the identity of each nation. Therefore, heritage is not just architectural works, festivals, or natural landscapes, but also the sacred essence, the story of memory and the aspiration for sustainable development.

The book "Vietnam's Imprint on the World Heritage Map" introduces 50 representative Vietnamese heritage sites recognized by UNESCO.

In Vietnam, a rich and unique heritage system has been preserved through many generations, becoming compelling evidence of the enduring vitality of a culture deeply rooted in national identity. “ Each heritage site, whether architectural works, natural landscapes, traditional art forms, or historical documents, carries within it the story of time and the imprint of many generations of Vietnamese people,” stated Associate Professor Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the publishing house and also the chief editor of the book. Through these heritage sites, Vietnam not only affirms its unique value but also makes a significant contribution to the common treasury of human civilization.

With the desire to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of the typical values representing the enduring vitality of Vietnamese culture, this book introduces 50 representative Vietnamese heritage sites that have been recognized and honored by UNESCO.

Vietnamese heritage is recognized as an important resource for sustainable development and international integration.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Vu Trong Lam, heritage only truly endures when it is cherished and preserved by the community; it spreads widely when it is scientifically and attractively disseminated, educated, and introduced to a broad audience both domestically and internationally. And when we deeply understand the enduring value of heritage, we will have more faith and aspiration to lead the country into a new era – an era of national progress, rapid and sustainable development, and the realization of the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

The recognition and honoring of Vietnamese heritage sites by UNESCO is not only a source of national pride, but also a vivid testament to the correct policies of the Party and State in preserving and promoting cultural values in line with the goal of sustainable national development.

Particularly in the current context, where heritage plays an increasingly important role as a form of "soft power," helping to enhance national standing, promote cultural exchange, and expand international cooperation, this book makes a significant contribution to promoting the image of Vietnam and its people as a country rich in cultural identity and friendly; a Vietnam that cherishes the past, builds the present, and looks towards the future.
