Throughout his life, President Ho Chi Minh always maintained the habit of regular and scientific physical training. According to him, physical training is not only for having good health to work but also a way to build willpower, spirit, and set an example for cadres and the people.
Learn from Uncle Ho about taking care of health.
Mr. Duong Minh Tue, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province, affirmed: In recent years, the implementation of the "National Movement for Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh" has always been a priority for the department, carried out systematically and consistently. We believe that developing mass sports and physical training is not only a purely professional task of the sports sector, but also an important part of the strategy to build a new generation of people who are comprehensively developed both physically and mentally. This is the leverage to improve the quality of life, creating a strong impetus to promote the movement to build cultural life at the grassroots level, making it increasingly profound, substantive, and sustainable.
Accordingly, over the years, people's awareness of the role of physical training has undergone many positive changes. While previously sports activities were mainly vibrant during holidays and festivals, now regular exercise has become a practical need for many people. Following President Ho Chi Minh's words: "I myself exercise every day," many people have gradually formed a positive lifestyle and a conscious effort to care for their own and their family's health through daily exercise, contributing to the concrete implementation of learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example.
Ms. Ha Thi Hien from Tan Doan commune said: "Maintaining regular exercise for many years has helped me improve my health and reduce illness. Just dedicating a suitable amount of time each day makes a noticeable difference in my health and spirits. After work, going to the field to exercise with others also makes me happier and more relaxed."
Thanks to this, the mass sports movement has developed widely with many diverse forms. By 2025, 39% of the province's population will participate in regular physical exercise and sports; 33% of households will meet the standards of a "sports family". The province currently maintains 760 grassroots sports clubs in residential areas and 265 sports clubs in agencies, units, and businesses. Through this, learning from and following President Ho Chi Minh's example through health training is increasingly concretized through practical activities at the grassroots level.
Spreading the movement
Based on the province's general guidelines, communes and wards have proactively chosen methods suitable to their actual conditions to develop the movement of "All People Practicing Physical Training Following the Example of the Great President Ho Chi Minh." In Bac Son commune, where the percentage of people participating in physical training and sports is higher than the provincial average (with over 50% of the population participating in regular physical training and sports), sports activities are regularly maintained from the commune level down to the villages and residential areas.
Mr. Phuong Anh Tu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Son commune, said: Currently, the commune maintains many clubs for volleyball, badminton, football, folk dance, etc., which operate regularly. To ensure the sustainable development of these activities, the commune focuses on creating playgrounds suitable for each age group and practical conditions. In addition to utilizing the grounds of cultural centers and schools as training locations, the commune also promotes social mobilization, encouraging people to contribute to renovating playgrounds and purchasing sports equipment.
From the experience in Bac Son commune, it can be seen that when local authorities proactively create a favorable environment, people will participate more actively in exercise. In particular, the movement is no longer limited to a specific age group but has spread widely throughout the community.
Along with the development of mass movements, the system of cultural and sports facilities in the province has also gradually received attention and investment. Many playgrounds and training grounds have been renovated; sports competitions at the commune and district levels are organized more frequently.
Daily physical training has contributed to laying the foundation for the development of professional sports. From grassroots sports activities, many athletes have been discovered, trained, and achieved success at national and international competitions.
Learning from and following Uncle Ho's example doesn't mean doing grand things, but starting with simple things every day. When each citizen proactively trains their body and builds a healthy lifestyle, they are contributing to creating a healthy community, a positive society, and a sustainable resource for local development.
