Ronaldo, as one of the pioneers to join the Saudi Pro League in 2023, believes that the tournament offers opportunities for both professional and financial development.

In a statement quoted by A Bola after Al Nassr's 4-0 win over Rio Ave in the early morning of August 8, Ronaldo commented: "Joao Felix's choice of Saudi Arabia was a better choice than playing in the Portuguese championship. He made the right decision."

Initially, Felix wanted to return to Benfica to revive his career. Benfica even reached an agreement with Chelsea to bring Felix back to Lisbon. However, with the interest of Al Nassr - a team with strong financial potential thanks to the support of the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) - everything changed.

The former Atletico Madrid star then caused controversy when he decided to leave Europe to play in Saudi Arabia. FIFA representative Jen Mendelewitsch criticized Felix for being greedy for money when he chose Al Nassr instead of Benfica.

However, Ronaldo thinks differently: "Saudi Arabia has developed well and is highly competitive in recent times, everything is better than in Portugal. Felix made the right choice." At the age of 25, Felix signed a 2-year contract with Al Nassr, receiving a salary of up to 35 million euros/season.

The Saudi Arabian team is determined to compete for the Saudi Pro League title next season, after extending Cristiano Ronaldo's contract and appointing veteran coach Jorge Jesus - also a Portuguese - to the hot seat.

Al Nassr is having a perfect run for the new season with consecutive wins in friendly matches. In the early morning of August 8, Ronaldo scored 3 goals in Al Nassr's 4-0 friendly win over Rio Ave. This was a match in which Felix also started the whole match.
