Ronaldo is approaching his sixth World Cup in a fresh new way. |
According to Bloomberg , Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a stake in LiveModeTV, the media company behind the popular YouTube channel CazeTV. This is seen as a new move by the Portuguese superstar in the field of sports media, after years of building his global image off the pitch.
LiveModeTV currently operates CazeTV, a digital sports broadcasting platform that gained popularity in Brazil thanks to its model of free-to-air broadcasts of major events on YouTube. With Ronaldo's involvement, the project aims to expand its influence to the Portuguese market during the 2026 World Cup.
According to the original plan, approximately 34 matches at the 2026 World Cup will be broadcast free of charge in 100% digital format. Notably, all of Portugal's matches are expected to be shown on this platform. Viewers simply need to access YouTube without paying any fees or subscribing to traditional television services.
Sources indicate that Ronaldo sees this as a "mission" to help football reach audiences in a more modern way. The 41-year-old wants to leverage the power of digital platforms to bring big matches closer to younger fans, especially those who regularly watch content on YouTube and social media.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams and the most matches (104), taking place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The tournament is expected to generate a massive online audience, sparking new competition between traditional television and digital broadcasting platforms.
