Quang Tri Maple Forest: Discovering European Autumn at Huong Phung

In early December, the maple forest in Huong Phung commune, Quang Tri, begins to change color, creating an impressive scene, attracting tourists to row boats, camp and take photos.

When the winter winds begin to blow, the maple forests in the western mountainous region of Quang Tri province, in Huong Phung commune, put on a new coat. From the beginning of December, the leaves change from green to yellow, orange and bright red, creating a vivid natural picture, often compared to the autumn scenery in Europe.

This beauty, although only lasting for a short period from December to the end of January, has quickly attracted the attention of photographers and adventure travel lovers from everywhere.

Experience the wild in nature

The Huong Phung maple forest area still retains its wildness, not much affected by tourism services. This is an ideal destination for those who want to find peace and fully immerse themselves in nature.

Visitors have many options to explore here. Popular activities include boating or SUPing on the hydroelectric lake to see the rows of maple trees reflected in the water. In addition, hiking through the forest and camping overnight are also popular experiences. Inside the forest, there are green lawns and small streams, creating an ideal camping spot.

Scientifically, the maple tree is also known as sau sau or bach giao huong. The tree trunk is tall and straight with a layer of opaque white bark, making the forest in winter look like the birch forests in the West.

According to Huy Vo, a local photographer, the end of the year in Quang Tri is often rainy and cold. Tourists should closely monitor the weather forecast and prioritize dry, sunny days to ensure safety and get the best photos. The ideal time to take photos during the day is at dawn or dusk.
