According to Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, key items such as the runway, apron, air traffic control station, technical systems, and preparations for the ceremony have been basically completed. At 3:30 PM on December 15th, the airport will receive a technical flight to inspect the entire system. The flight will use a Code E aircraft, expected to be a Boeing 787, taking off from Tan Son Nhat and landing at Long Thanh before returning, carrying only the flight crew and technical staff.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh commended the units for their high level of focus on the project. The items and works are changing day by day, week by week, and month by month.

In particular, the passenger terminal – the "heart" of the airport – and the air traffic control tower – the "brain" of the airport – are nearing completion; the runway – the core infrastructure of the airport – is illuminated; electricity and water supply are adequate and stable. Fuel stations and communication lines are functioning smoothly; internal airport connecting roads are being constructed urgently; and the environmental landscaping, parking areas, and lawns are being completed…

The Prime Minister requested that the units continue to organize construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams," "working during the day is not enough, so we take advantage of working at night and on holidays" to accelerate progress and ensure the quality, safety, hygiene, and environmental landscape of Long Thanh airport.

To ensure the smooth running of the December 19th event, the Prime Minister requested ministries, agencies, ACV, and Dong Nai province to review all items, especially connecting transportation. ACV was asked to mobilize maximum manpower and resources to accelerate the installation of jet bridges and terminal glass. The Ministry of National Defense is ready to provide additional personnel if needed.

Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport covers 1,810 hectares and commenced construction on January 5, 2021. Its designed capacity is 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. Currently, many key components have been completed; flight testing and calibration were conducted from the end of September to the end of October. The airport is expected to begin commercial operation in mid-2026.
