Speed up production

In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), the atmosphere of production and packaging at businesses, production facilities, and cooperatives in Da Nang City is extremely urgent and bustling in order to promptly meet the increased consumer demand of the market.

At the Ba Lieu Me sesame cracker production facility (Cam Le ward), the atmosphere is always bustling and lively. This is considered the "golden" time of year, when the demand for sesame crackers as gifts and offerings to ancestors increases dramatically.

While inspecting a batch of freshly baked pastries, Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, the owner of the establishment, said that to produce high-quality batches of pastries, the product must go through many meticulous stages, from selecting ingredients to processing, all done carefully to maintain the crispness, lightness, and distinctive delicious flavor.

Ba Lieu Me's sesame brittle products embody the rich traditions of Da Nang and have now been certified with a 4-star OCOP rating across six product lines. To prepare for this year's Tet (Lunar New Year) season, the facility is proactively stockpiling raw materials and arranging for overtime work. Production for Tet is expected to increase by approximately 15-20% compared to last year, equivalent to 300,000-350,000 products for the market.

“Besides traditional designs, we focus more on the convenience and aesthetics of gifts. Tet gift sets, combo packs of 5 or 10 boxes, or large gift boxes are designed elegantly, suitable for gift-giving needs while preserving traditional values,” Sol shared.

Meanwhile, at My Phuong Food Co., Ltd. (Hoa Khanh ward), to meet the demand for consumption during Tet (Lunar New Year), the company proactively signed raw material procurement contracts with suppliers as early as the third quarter of 2025 to stabilize prices and minimize the risk of price fluctuations during the peak period at the end of the year.

According to Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi, co-founder of the company, the total supply of goods for Tet 2026 is expected to increase by about 15-20% compared to the same period last year, and production lines are currently operating at maximum capacity to ensure progress and output.

“Currently, Top Coco coconut cakes have achieved OCOP 4-star rating, with the potential for 5-star. Exports account for approximately 60%, while the domestic market accounts for 40%. Despite the strong increase in domestic demand during Tet (Lunar New Year), the company proactively manages its raw materials, arranges its production lines and personnel efficiently to ensure the highest possible product quality,” said Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi.

"Giving the product a new look"

This year's Lunar New Year season has seen a clear shift in the branding mindset of businesses and cooperatives. Exquisitely designed gift boxes, made with environmentally friendly materials, and gift baskets reflecting local cultural identity are increasingly winning the hearts and trust of consumers.

According to OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses in Da Nang, in the context of fierce market competition, quality remains the core factor, but design and packaging are the first "key" to attracting customers. This reality forces many businesses to change their mindset.

Ms. Mai Thi Y Nhi stated that, in the past, businesses believed in the saying "good wood is better than good paint," meaning that a delicious and high-quality product was sufficient. However, in recent years, especially during the Lunar New Year season, consumer tastes have changed significantly. Buyers are not only interested in the taste but also in the appearance, aesthetics, and message that the product conveys.

Capitalizing on this trend, this Tet holiday, My Phuong Food is launching a line of gift boxes with completely new designs, from premium hard cardboard boxes to environmentally friendly materials. The highlight of these products is the design, which is linked to local stories and identity, being both modern and elegant, while creating a unique mark in the Tet gift segment.

Similarly, at Duy Oanh Green Agriculture Cooperative (Duy Xuyen commune), the effectiveness of investing in packaging and design has been clearly demonstrated. Ms. Pham Thi Duy My, Director of the Cooperative, said that the unit recognizes that investing in packaging is an investment in the long-term value of the product.

“This Lunar New Year season, we are launching gift sets that are more meticulously designed and modern, while still retaining the rustic charm of our local agricultural products. When products are given a ‘new look,’ the added value is very clear, especially in the gift-giving segment. After investing in design, the customer base is more stable and effective than in previous years,” Ms. My shared.

The development of OCOP products not only contributes to increasing farmers' income but also builds a sustainable brand for the locality. In the context of the growing preference for "Made in Vietnam" products, coupled with thorough preparation from raw materials and packaging to logistics, OCOP producers are hoping for a prosperous Tet season, creating momentum for long-term development.
