Identify limitations and problems
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Vu - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said that by the end of 2023, Quang Nam will complete the assessment and classification of products under the OCOP Program at the district and provincial levels and have developed 407 products.
Of which, the food group has 302 products; the beverage group 32; the medicinal herbs and medicinal products group 24; the handicraft group 47; the community tourism service group - eco -tourism and tourist attractions group 2 products.
Of the 407 products that have achieved OCOP star rating, 61 products have achieved 4 stars and 346 products have achieved 3 stars; currently, 246/407 products with 3 stars or higher are still valid.
Recognizing the limitations in developing and consuming OCOP products of the province, Mr. Tran Van Noa - Head of the Department of Rural Development of Quang Nam said that in recent years, the number of cooperatives, cooperatives, and enterprises in the province participating in OCOP products is not much.
The number of production and business households registering to participate in the OCOP Program accounts for a relatively high proportion (50% of the total number of OCOP participants), but the majority are small-scale and have limited management and operational capacity.
Notably, the work of developing and upgrading products is still slow. The whole province currently has nearly 85% of products meeting 3-star OCOP standards, many products have been recognized as 3 stars but the subjects are not really dedicated to upgrading products and expanding the scale of production and product development.
There are still many raw products, some of which have not registered for trademark and logo protection. Notably, the review and orientation of OCOP production for product registration entities is still confusing; planning and building stable raw material areas have not received due attention...
Recently, although many localities have paid attention to implementing trade promotion activities, the reality shows that they are still fragmented and lack uniformity.
In addition, a system of trade promotion and promotion that is connected and specialized in OCOP products has not been established. OCOP centers and points of sale are still weak in terms of capacity and operational efficiency...
At the conference connecting trade between OCOP product entities of Quang Nam province with export enterprises and trade promotion organizations in 2024, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development last weekend, representatives of 6 OCOP entities of Quang Nam signed a memorandum of understanding to connect trade with 6 supermarkets and enterprises inside and outside the province.
Listen from the subject
Mr. Tong Phuoc Thuan - representative of Phuoc Tuyen Agricultural Service - Processing - General Trading Cooperative (Tien Phuoc) said that the unit currently has 2 main products: lon bon wine produced from organic materials that have met 4-star OCOP standards and Tien Phuoc pepper salt is completing the application for OCOP star rating assessment.

In recent years, despite the Cooperative’s great efforts, the consumption of the above two products has not been as expected. On average, each month, the unit only supplies the market with 100 bottles of Lon Bon wine (each bottle costs 300,000 VND) and 2,000 jars of Tien Phuoc salt and pepper (priced from 25,000 - 70,000 VND/jar, depending on the type).
“The cooperative’s wish is to sell the above two products at Co.opMart Tam Ky supermarket in the near future and connect to supply products to stores and agents in many places across the country. Thereby, increasing product consumption and increasing revenue and profit,” said Mr. Thuan.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thu - owner of Dai Binh Xanh production and business (Nong Son) said that her facility currently has two main products: grapefruit peel jam and grapefruit peel tea. Although the quality of the facility's products is highly appreciated by consumers, in recent years, consumption has been difficult.
“I propose that in the coming time, all levels and sectors should pay attention to supporting the organization of livestream sessions, inviting experts and celebrities to participate in promoting and introducing Quang Nam’s OCOP products. Thereby, helping entities connect with partners, expand product consumption markets…” - Ms. Thu said.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Suong - Deputy Director of Co.opMart Tam Ky affirmed that bringing OCOP products to display in supermarkets is not difficult. Co.opMart Tam Ky always sends people to guide and support OCOP entities with documents and related procedures to bring products to supermarkets.
According to Ms. Suong, products that have met the 3-4 star OCOP standards have legal documents and quality that meet the requirements. However, the issue that OCOP product owners need to pay attention to is ensuring full information on the product label.
In addition, each product and product line has its own barcode. For clean products with high prices, the owners must make sure that customers can see the difference in the product to make them accept to buy it…
Mr. Tran Viet Hung - Director of Que Tra My Joint Stock Company informed that the company is about to open and put into operation 2 large supermarkets in Da Nang City, specializing in providing OCOP products of Vietnam and some countries such as Thailand, Japan...
“We want to connect with OCOP entities in Quang Nam to bring products to the company's supermarkets,” said Mr. Hung.
