Ready for the 237th Anniversary Celebration of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory

On the evening of February 10th, the People's Committee of Dong Da Ward held a dress rehearsal for the festival commemorating the 237th anniversary of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da Victory (1789-2026).

This is an important preparatory step for the major cultural and political event taking place on January 5th and 6th, 2016 (February 21st and 22nd) at Dong Da Cultural Park.

Honoring historical significance

Sharing his thoughts on the significance of the event, Nguyen Trong Hai, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Da Ward, said: “This year's festival is organized on a large scale, not only to honor the great value of the Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory and to express gratitude for the merits of Emperor Quang Trung and the Tay Son army, but also to carry special significance. The festival is an opportunity to affirm the stability, unity, and promotion of cultural values in the locality.”

To ensure a successful festival, preparations began months in advance. Dong Da Ward established an Organizing Committee and issued regulations outlining specific tasks for each member. With an estimated attendance of around 1,500 people, every detail, from content to logistics, was meticulously checked.

The dress rehearsal meticulously recreated the program's framework, from artistic performances to ceremonial rituals. The main highlight was the epic performance by the National Traditional Theatre, combined with the resounding drumbeats and powerful Binh Dinh martial arts movements, recreating the swift and decisive march of the ancient national hero.

Ensuring absolute safety.

Preparations for the festival were comprehensively implemented in many aspects. In particular, Dong Da ward closely coordinated with central and Hanoi city art units to develop the script and a system of decorative and promotional layouts, seeking approval from relevant authorities. The entire grounds of Dong Da Cultural Park were renovated according to a unified layout, ensuring a solemn atmosphere.

The ward has developed specific plans to protect security and order, ensure traffic safety, and prevent and control fires; resolutely addressing negative phenomena such as theft or superstition in the festival area; traffic flow management plans, parking arrangements, and absolute security measures have been implemented synchronously, ready to respond to any situation that may arise. Simultaneously, logistics, environmental sanitation, and medical services have also been ensured to welcome tens of thousands of pilgrims.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Hai further stated that the core objective that the Party Committee and People's Committee of the ward are aiming for is to affirm the great significance of the historic victory, while simultaneously arousing national pride, the aspiration for peace, and the spirit of self-reliance of the people of Hanoi. Through the epic performances and the joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, each citizen becomes even more grateful for the immense contributions of their ancestors who fought to achieve the peaceful life we enjoy today.

Participating in the inspection and evaluation of the dress rehearsal, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Da Ward, Nguyen Ngoc Viet, affirmed that the contents from the ceremonial part to the festive part basically met the requirements in terms of artistic quality and solemnity. The artistic quality conveyed a heroic spirit, solemnity, and preserved the traditional features of the nation...

However, the Party Secretary of the ward also reminded the Organizing Committee to continue to carefully review even the smallest details, to avoid complacency, and to ensure smooth coordination between departments to serve the people with a joyful and enthusiastic festival season, and to confidently enter the first spring of the new era.

The festival commemorating the 237th anniversary of the Victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da will officially open on the morning of the 5th day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse). Besides the solemn ceremony, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the lively festivities with lion and dragon dances, a human chess competition, and a vibrant Spring Fair.

With thorough preparation in all aspects, the festival commemorating the 237th anniversary of the Victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da promises to bring a solemn cultural and spiritual atmosphere and vibrant, meaningful activities to the people and visitors from all over; befitting the status of a special national historical site, contributing to building a more prosperous, civilized, and modern Hanoi.
