EVN has issued directives to its affiliated units to strengthen operational discipline, protect security and safety in the workplace, prevent and control fires and explosions, and promptly handle situations on the power system to ensure stable, continuous, safe, and reliable electricity supply; actively coordinate with local authorities, police, and the military to develop and implement plans to protect security, order, safety, and prevent and control fires and explosions at power facilities, offices, warehouses, etc. EVN and related units have proactively developed plans to ensure safe electricity supply and fire prevention; organized 24/7 on-call duty and prepared personnel, vehicles, materials, and equipment to be ready to handle situations when power outages occur.

During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Horse 2026: From 0:00 on February 14th (the 27th day of the Lunar month) to 24:00 on February 22nd (the 6th day of the Lunar month), no power outages on the grid are required, except in cases where emergency repairs are necessary. Ensure sufficient materials, equipment, communication systems, and transportation are in place to quickly handle any incidents that may arise; re-establish on-site operational shifts at unmanned substations if necessary.
Regarding the operation and dispatch of the power system, according to annual patterns and forecasts from the National Power Grid Management Agency (NSMO), electricity consumption during the Lunar New Year holiday will decrease significantly – to only 50% to about 65% of normal days. With the low electricity consumption during the Tet holiday, many types of power sources are forced to reduce output to match the low demand. To ensure safe and stable operation of the power system in all situations, the NSMO is required to maintain a minimum number of traditional power plants (such as coal-fired thermal power plants, gas turbines, hydropower plants, etc.) to ensure stable operation of the power system and to have sufficient reserve capacity in case of power source failures or potential abnormal fluctuations.
Therefore, when the load demand drops too low, traditional power sources have stopped/reduced output to their technical limits, yet the total power output still exceeds demand. This necessitates adjusting and reducing the power output from all types of power sources, including renewable energy sources (such as small hydropower, solar power, and wind power), to ensure the safe operation of the national power system. EVN and its member units will continue to closely coordinate with NSMO and the regional Power System Dispatch Centers in strictly implementing dispatch orders to ensure the safe operation of the national power system at all times.

Regarding electricity usage during Tet (Lunar New Year), EVN and other power companies advise electricity customers nationwide to ensure safe electricity use for people and equipment, prevent fires and electrical accidents at all times and in all places, and especially to absolutely avoid risks and violations of the power grid safety corridor (such as firing fireworks, flying kites, using sticks/poles near overhead power lines...) which are both life-threatening and have a wide-ranging impact on the community's electricity supply.
