Ready to organize the High School Graduation Exam safely, seriously, thoughtfully and friendly

The meeting took place just one week before the start of an important exam for more than 1 million candidates. Also attending were Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son and representatives of a number of relevant ministries, branches and agencies. According to the Ministry of Education and Training , the 2024 High School Graduation Exam is a major exam. About 200,000 officials were mobilized to participate in the organization of the exam, such as officials, teachers in the education sector, police, military, health, electricity, etc.

The total number of candidates registered for the exam is 1,071,393 (an increase of more than 45,000 candidates compared to 2023), of which 46,978 are independent candidates, accounting for 4.38% of the total number of candidates; 1,014,020 candidates registered online, accounting for 94.66% of the total number of candidates, the remaining candidates registered directly are independent candidates and a small number are grade 12 students who cannot register online for various reasons.

The total number of candidates who registered for exemption from the foreign language exam was 66,927, accounting for 6.25% of the total number of candidates. On June 15, the Ministryof Education and Training sent the official exam papers to the Departments of Education and Training to print and copy the exam papers. In the near future, the Ministry of Education and Training will send the reserve exam papers to the Departments of Education and Training on June 23.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, Head of the National Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, said that this is the last High School Graduation Exam for students studying under the 2006 general education program. However, the nature, scale, and level of this exam are the same as every year.

Reporting on the exam preparation work, Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong said that there are 6 points that have been well implemented up to this point, namely the system of documents for organizing the exam was issued early and fully from the central to local levels; the apparatus for managing the exam preparation work was organized very early; professional work from training, software, exam inspection, and grading has been completed; equipment and facilities for the exam have been strengthened; coordination between ministries, branches and communication work is very good.

From the above 6 characteristics, "it can be assessed that up to this point, we are ready to organize a safe, serious, thoughtful, and friendly exam," Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong affirmed, while emphasizing the spirit of creating all favorable conditions for candidates, especially candidates in disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority areas. No candidate due to difficult economic conditions or transportation difficulties will be prevented from taking the exam. He also affirmed that candidates are absolutely not allowed to bring phones or technological devices into the exam room.

At the meeting, representatives of ministries and branches spoke, clearly stating the work of ensuring security and safety for the exam, keeping exam papers confidential; preventing and handling cheating situations using high-tech equipment; ensuring medical work serving the exam. Proactively preparing plans related to fire, explosion, traffic accidents, floods, etc.

Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Ngo Van Cuong said that 1,593 exam support teams have been established at all exam sites nationwide with more than 58,700 volunteers. Volunteers will coordinate with functional forces in traffic control at exam sites, assist candidates in finding exam rooms, completing exam procedures, providing free drinking water and meals, and supporting candidates in difficult circumstances to get to exam sites safely.

Some provinces and cities will form teams of free motorbike taxis. "100% of the exam sites will have teams of young volunteers on duty to support candidates during the exam days," said Mr. Ngo Van Cuong.

Concluding the meeting, highly appreciating the preparations for the 2024 high school graduation exam by the Ministry of Education and Training, relevant ministries, branches and agencies, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long stated that this is a particularly important exam when the whole society is interested in education and exams; emphasizing the need to well implement Directive 15/CT-TTg dated May 16, 2024 of the Prime Minister on strengthening direction and coordination in organizing the 2024 high school graduation exam and university and vocational education entrance exam to ensure the exam takes place safely and meets the set requirements. Absolutely do not be negligent or subjective, the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

The Ministry of Education and Training, relevant ministries, sectors and agencies continue to make efforts and proactively carry out assigned tasks, including the application of information technology to serve the exam and ensure exam security. Strengthen the implementation of solutions to prevent and combat cheating in exams, and do not allow candidates to bring technological devices to cheat into the exam room.

In particular, it is necessary to strengthen inspection, supervision and monitoring before and during the exam. It is necessary to proactively prepare response plans for unusual situations that may occur such as unusual weather developments... The health sector needs to pay attention to implementing disease prevention and control, environmental sanitation, food safety; ensuring medical examination and treatment for candidates and those participating in the organization of the exam with health problems. The Ministry of Public Security deploys professional measures to ensure absolute security and safety for the exam.

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to direct all levels of the Youth Union to actively support candidates so that they can participate in the exam fully and safely.
