Prepare telecommunications security plan to respond to storm WIPHA

The Ministry of Science and Technology has sent a telegram to the departments of science and technology of provinces and cities in the Northern region and coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Dak Lak; units under the Ministry, and postal and telecommunications enterprises, requesting them to proactively respond to storm WIPHA.

Accordingly, the Telecommunications Department directed telecommunications enterprises to deploy storm response measures. The Central Post Office provided mobile communication services for the Government's working group and the National Civil Defense Steering Committee when requested.

The Postal Department directed postal enterprises to review the postal mail system and develop plans to ensure postal information security to serve the direction and operation of storm response.

The Department of Science and Technology of the provinces identified areas that lost communication due to the storm's impact to coordinate with the Department of Telecommunications to direct mobile telecommunications businesses to deploy roaming between networks, ensuring smooth communication to serve the work of directing, operating, and responding to the storm.

Coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade to ensure electricity for the solid base transceiver station (BTS); prioritize the supply of gasoline and oil to local telecommunications enterprises to run generators for the BTS when the grid loses power.

Telecommunications businesses should focus on immediately implementing measures to ensure the safety of communication systems to serve storm response and command, develop information rescue plans when incidents occur; be ready to roam between mobile networks; instruct people on how to set up their phones to automatically roam between mobile networks...

VNPT Group, Viettel Group, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation ensure network safety, public network communications (fixed, mobile, internet); increase mobile BTS vehicles to locations at risk of losing communication to be ready for rescue. Coordinate with the Central Post Office to deploy a specialized information network for disaster prevention and control...
