New creations from long trips

Prose Association went on a field trip to Xich Dang Temple of Literature.

In recent years, many majors such as Prose, Photography, Fine Arts under the Provincial Literature and Arts Association have regularly maintained field trips to localities inside and outside the province. The trips are carefully prepared in terms of location, content and creative direction of each member.

With more than 50 members, the Prose Association is a specialized branch that organizes many field trips. From 2023 to now, the Association has made 5 writing trips outside the province, and at the same time divided into small groups to explore many localities in the province. Each trip attracts nearly 30 members to participate, the main cost is socialized by members, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association supports transportation.

Writer Phan Thai, Head of the Prose Association, said: Field trips have given authors the opportunity to experience new cultural spaces, to have emotions and feelings before new lands. From there, they create quality literary and artistic works.

The destinations are diverse, such as Do Temple (Bac Ninh), Duong Lam ancient village ( Hanoi ), Ba Be lake (Thai Nguyen)... At the same time, the Association links creative activities with major events and holidays of the country, creating a source of works in accordance with the propaganda direction.

From those trips, many short stories, memoirs, and notes have been completed and published in central and local newspapers and literary publications. On average, each year, the Prose Association publishes a new collection of stories, a collection of compositions by its members: The Fire Order (2023), Living Truly at Midnight (2024), and The Unfinished Song (2025).

Like Prose, the Fine Arts Association also actively organizes field trips to sketch and find creative materials. Artists often travel for long periods to villages that still preserve traditional cultural features. They stop at many locations to sketch landscapes and objects they want to express, then complete the work.

According to artist Giang Nam, this is a necessary preparation step before national and regional art exhibitions, and at the same time helps authors exchange expertise and learn techniques and creative styles.

Unlike prose or painting, photography is almost always associated with continuous travel. Decisive moments, natural light, and unstaged life images force photographers to move a lot, sometimes alone, wandering from one place to another to find beautiful angles. Through that, they bring back unique works, truly reflecting the life, nature and people of the localities.

It can be seen that each field trip is a necessary activity to find creative materials, and at the same time is a way to foster direct, vivid and emotional experiences for the province's creative team. The works born from practice are gradually creating a quality source for publishing, exhibitions and regional and national competitions.

In 2025, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association supported more than 10 field trips in and out of the province, with hundreds of members participating. In 2026, the Provincial Literature and Arts Association continued to pay attention to and support fields to promote field trips, and at the same time select outstanding works for in-depth investment. This is a necessary direction to spread creativity from life, affirming the role of literature and arts in propagating and fostering cultural values and the image of Thai Nguyen people in the new period.
