Four major projects are about to start construction at the gateway to Ho Chi Minh City.

Four projects with a total investment of more than VND18,400 billion will start construction at the end of this year.

At the press conference on the socio -economic situation in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of November 13, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Board) said that many projects are about to start construction.

Along with the Beltway 3 project accelerating towards the finish line, projects about to start construction promise to open up the city's traffic gateway, creating a stronger traffic network.

Accordingly, the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway (from An Phu intersection to Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 2) will start construction on November 20. This route is 3.2 km long, with a total investment of more than VND915 billion from the city budget.

Thanks to the expansion, the highway will increase in size from 4 to 8 lanes, with a road width of 36 meters. Some bridges such as Muong Kenh bridge and Do Xuan Hop overpass will also be expanded.

It is expected that this expansion project will be completed synchronously with other key projects such as An Phu intersection and My Thuy intersection.

Meanwhile, the two projects of Ho Chi Minh City Beltway 2, including section 1 (from Phu Huu Bridge to Vo Nguyen Giap) 3.5 km long and section 2 (from Vo Nguyen Giap to Pham Van Dong) 2.8 km long, will start construction this December.

These two projects have a total investment of more than 13,800 billion VND, of which the cost of site clearance accounts for 8,600 billion VND. According to the plan, these two sections will be completed by April 30, 2027.

Another good news is that the Nguyen Khoi bridge and road project will also start construction in December. Of which, the cost of compensation, resettlement support and relocation of technical infrastructure accounts for 1,392 billion VND; the construction cost is 1,619 billion VND.

Compensation work is currently being carried out in District 4 (old) with 147 affected cases, including 21 organizations and 126 households.

Nguyen Khoi Bridge is designed with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, more than 2.5 km long. The bridge route over Te Canal and Ben Nghe Canal, connecting District 7 (old) with District 1 (old). In addition to the main bridge, the project also includes bridgehead road items more than 1.1 km long.

The project, when completed, will allow traffic from the South of the city to the center via an overpass, connecting with Vo Van Kiet Avenue. This route will reduce pressure on the Nguyen Huu Tho - Kenh Te bridge; Duong Ba Trac, Nguyen Tat Thanh axis.
