On November 27, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Hoang Giang signed a decision to declare a natural disaster emergency due to prolonged heavy rain causing landslides and burying many roads managed by the Department of Construction.
Accordingly, the heavy rains from October 25 to November 2 caused the traffic infrastructure system in Quang Ngai province to continuously record landslides, mud and soil falling onto the road surface, damage to the drainage system and traffic safety signs... causing blockages on many main routes, many areas at risk of being isolated.

According to initial statistics, more than 250 landslides were discovered on roads managed by the Provincial Department of Construction, with the volume of buried rock and soil reaching about 170,000m3.
Many important traffic routes such as National Highways 14C, 24, 24B, 24C, 40B and a series of provincial roads from DT.621B, DT.622B, DT.622C to DT.623, DT.624, DT.626, DT.627C, DT.628, DT.673, DT.676; Ngoc Hoang - Mang But - Tu Mo Rong - Ngoc Linh route are all in a state of disrepair and interruption.
The most serious is the Son Thuong - Son Tinh route, where the roadbed was eroded 0.5 - 1m deep over a length of nearly 3.5km; 6 landslides on the positive slope and a damaged drainage culvert completely paralyzed traffic. About 4,000 people in Son Tay Ha commune were isolated, in dire need of an urgent solution to maintain the transportation of food, necessities and medical support.
At Highway 83 - the route connecting Son Tay Ha commune center with Highway 623, many large landslides have made it impossible for vehicles to pass. Meanwhile, the inter-village road from Lang Moi to Tu Rang (Ngoc Linh commune) was completely broken for 50m, creating a deep abyss of about 10m, isolating all 5 villages inside.

Local authorities, military forces and people are making efforts to open temporary roads and build iron bridges for initial traffic, but this solution is only temporary, potentially dangerous and has a serious impact on the local socio-economy .
Faced with the urgent situation, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province Nguyen Hoang Giang requested the Department of Construction to coordinate with the police, localities and relevant forces to urgently clear the route at landslide sites, and closely monitor weather developments to proactively evacuate people from high-risk areas.
Ensuring food and necessities according to the "4 on-site" principle; posting warning signs, zoning dangerous areas and arranging forces to be on duty at checkpoints to guide people are identified as priority tasks. Along with that, units must regularly update the situation, report to the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Civil Defense Command to have timely direction measures.
Declaring an emergency situation is an important step, helping the province immediately mobilize necessary resources, respond effectively, minimize damage and ensure absolute safety for people in flood-affected areas.
