In the final days of the Year of the Snake, Can Gio was ablaze with color, featuring giant hot air balloons and paragliders flying with red and yellow flags soaring in the windy sky.
Many families choose the Can Gio Spring Festival - Green Paradise Tet Fest as a gathering place for reunions and couples to express their love. Among the activities, paragliding and hot air balloon rides have become the most popular.
A vibrant array of hot air balloons anchored against the blue sky became the perfect cinematic backdrop for hundreds of unique photos during the 2026 Lunar New Year season.
Arriving at Vinhomes Green Paradise right after Valentine's Day on February 14th, Ms. Vu Minh Diep's family (from Hanoi ) were extremely excited by the vibrant, spring-filled atmosphere at Can Gio beach. Ms. Diep recounted that she read in the newspaper that this year, for the first time, Can Gio was organizing a grand spring festival, and then saw many people "showing off" on social media about paragliding there. Her family immediately changed their plans to visit relatives in Dong Nai and instead came to the island commune before Tet (Lunar New Year).
"This is the first time I've seen so many hot air balloons right here in Ho Chi Minh City. The moment the giant balloons were inflated and slowly lifted off the ground was very special. Against the blue sky, in the fresh air and sea breeze, dozens of balloons in various vibrant colors created a lively spring scene, rarely seen in traditional Tet festivals. My child loved it. She was also excited to try it, but being too young, she just watched from below. This festival was truly impressive," shared Ms. Vu Minh Diep.

For the first time, the appearance of dozens of giant hot air balloons will make the sea and forest landscape of Can Gio look vibrant and beautiful, resembling a "miniature Türkiye" right here in Vietnam.
Besides hot air balloons, paragliding demonstrations quickly became a focal point of attention. Paragliders, bearing the vibrant red and yellow colors of the Vietnamese flag, spread wide, gliding gently in the sea breeze, carrying their riders in circles before landing safely. Each time a paraglider appeared, the crowd below would look up in unison, many seizing the opportunity to capture the rare moment with their phones and cameras.
Many thrill-seeking young people flocked to Can Gio to experience the exhilaration of soaring through the sky and admire the unmissable "million-dollar view."
Each guest who signs up for the paragliding experience will fly in tandem with a pilot. Guests simply sit back, enjoy the experience, and capture the most memorable moments.
The parasols, made in the colors of the national flag, stand out strikingly against the backdrop of the sea and sky of Can Gio.
The distinctive "red flags with yellow stars" fluttering in the air evoke a sense of freedom and independence, and also represent the aspiration to soar high and far with the nation in the new era.
Paragliding in Can Gio offers the chance to admire the panoramic view of the mangrove forest, the blue sea, hundreds of blooming peach and apricot trees, and vibrant hot air balloons from above.
Many residents of Can Gio island commune said this was the first time they had witnessed hot air balloons and paragliders appearing together in the same festival space. "Before, we only saw them in movies or at faraway tourist destinations, but now we have them right here in Can Gio. It feels very new and exciting," shared Quang Minh, a local resident, while taking his family on a spring outing.
Soaring paragliding through the sky, with the sea below and the vibrant spring scenery of peach and apricot blossoms, is an unparalleled experience in Vietnam.
Some visitors commented that the most appealing aspect of this experience lies not only in its scale or colors, but in the feeling of looking up at the sky: "Normally, when I go to a festival, I look at the stage or the booths. Here, with the cool sea breeze and abundant sunshine, I can just stand still and have something to look at above my head while enjoying the pleasant weather. It's a very enjoyable feeling," commented Tuan Anh, a young tourist from the city center.
Many people flock to Can Gio in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year) to immerse themselves in nature and take unique "Instagrammable" photos at one of the new flying spots near the center of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the organizers, the inclusion of hot air balloons and paragliding in the program aims to create a new, iconic tourism product, while also contributing to promoting Can Gio as a destination that is both accessible and rich in experiences.
Throughout the event, the organizers arranged a separate viewing area for visitors, incorporating various festive decorations, allowing viewers to both admire the aerial performance and enjoy the festive atmosphere on the ground.
From now until February 28th (the 12th day of the first lunar month), visitors to the Green Paradise Tet Fest Can Gio will have the opportunity to participate in countless fun and exciting activities such as: Workshops, making lucky money envelopes, paragliding, enjoying the sea view from a hot air balloon, traditional games and activities (throwing bamboo spears, carrying rice across a bridge, painting wooden faces, tug-of-war, calligraphers writing auspicious characters, etc.), lucky draws at the lucky money tree; enjoying acoustic music, spring parades and festivals in January, and praying for good fortune next to a 150-year-old apricot tree…
In particular, on New Year's Eve tonight (February 17th), a high-altitude fireworks display will be held for the first time in Can Gio, promising an unforgettable experience for visitors present at the moment of the New Year's transition.
