Deputy Head of the Provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection Ho Khac Minh said: To minimize damage caused by pests and diseases, and prevent outbreaks that cause serious damage during the rice panicle-flowering stage, localities need to notify, guide and direct farmers to regularly check their fields, detect early and prevent timely control according to the instructed technical measures.
Specifically, for brown planthoppers and white-backed planthoppers, spray pesticides in areas with high density using chemicals containing one of the following active ingredients: Pymetrozine, Dinotefuran, Clothianidin...; for small leaf rollers, check the fields, especially in early-flowering rice, and spray pesticides when the density of pests is high using chemicals containing one of the following active ingredients: Indoxacarb, Nereistoxin, Emamectin benzoate...; for areas where spider mites appear early, use chemicals containing one of the following active ingredients: Quinalphos, Hexythiazox, Propargite... for spraying; use pesticides in rotation to avoid drug resistance.
In addition, farmers need to monitor other pests that can cause serious damage during this period, such as: rats, leaf blight, bacterial stripe spots, brown spot, stem borers... for early prevention.
