
On the evening of December 6 at the City Convention and Performance Center, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized a special art program to celebrate the 103rd birthday of musician Do Nhuan - an outstanding son of the Port City, author of immortal marches in Vietnam's revolutionary music.
The program is broadcast live on THP, THP3, THP+ channels and digital platforms of Hai Phong Newspaper, Radio and Television.
Attending the program were comrades: Le Van Hieu, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Council; Nguyen Minh Hung, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Vietnam Musicians Association, along with many musicians, artists and music lovers of the Port City.

Musician Do Nhuan (1922 - 1991), an outstanding son from Hoach Trach village, Thai Hoc commune, Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province (now Duong An commune, Hai Phong city), is one of the great names of Vietnamese revolutionary music. From his youth in Hai Phong port city to his days in prison in Son La, Hoa Lo; from the Viet Bac resistance base to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, he left behind a massive and lasting legacy, from lyrical songs, revolutionary marches to large-scale operas.
He is the author of songs that have been around for a long time, such as “My Homeland Vietnam”, “Thao River Guerrilla”, “Xaan March”, “Miss Sao”, “Sculptor”… He is also considered the founder of Vietnamese musicals and a rare musician of the first generation to receive formal training at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Russia).

The program "Musician Do Nhuan - Sounds of Life" is directed by Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan.
The performing force includes People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao, Meritorious Artist Duc Hoai, Lan Quynh, Thu Huyen, Khanh Ngoc... and artists from Hai Phong Contemporary Arts Theater.

The program is divided into 3 chapters, recreating the musician's artistic journey: Chapter 1, "Homeland of Desire" opens with a portrait report recreating Do Nhuan's youth, ideals and years of imprisonment. The chapter takes place with classic works associated with the resistance war against the French such as: "Guerrilla Song", "Winter Coat", "Doan Lua Nhac", "Guerrilla Song Thao", medley "Xanh Quan Xa - Tren Doi Him Lam", "Chien Thang Dien Bien". LED effects, visuals, stage animations are designed to depict the atmosphere of the war zone, portraits of soldiers - artists and the spirit of the people during the resistance war.
Chapter 2, “The Epic Song of Lighting the Fire”, honors Do Nhuan’s comprehensive contributions in song, instrumental music, cinema, ballet and especially opera - where he became a pioneer. The performances “The Blossoms of the Mountains and Forests”, “The Joy of Opening the Road”, “The Road of Four Seasons of Spring”, “Looking at the Trees and Remembering Him”… were staged with a combination of dance, modern harmony and orchestration, LED simulating the mountains and forests, Truong Son, spring and the image of Uncle Ho.

The program ended with the medley "Hai Phong, the homeland's seaport - Hai Phong, the heroic port city" and the closing performance "Vietnam, my homeland" in the chapter "Sound of Motherland".
With the theme “Musician Do Nhuan - The Sound of Life”, the music night not only recalls the great milestones of the nation’s history through music, but also expresses deep gratitude to the musician - the soldier who brought the soul of the East - Hai Phong into his immortal works. The program also contributes to spreading the value of the musical heritage of Hai Phong’s artists in contemporary life.
