In the 2025-2026 school year, Ngo Quyen Secondary School in Rach Gia Ward will have 180 ninth-grade students. Mr. Luu Hoang Hieu, the principal of Ngo Quyen Secondary School, stated that at the secondary school age, students are not yet fully aware of their next steps after graduation. Many often choose schools based on popular trends without carefully considering their own abilities. Therefore, the school's role in guiding students to choose the right path after graduating from secondary school is crucial. “To provide career guidance for students, during the weekly flag-raising ceremony, school leaders dedicate time to thoroughly analyze how to choose a school for each student, helping them to have a clear and suitable direction for their future. At the end of April 2026, before the second semester exam, the school will hold a separate parent meeting for 9th graders. At this meeting, school leaders and homeroom teachers will provide in-depth counseling so that parents can support their children in making the right school choices. The goal is to help students clearly assess their own abilities and decide whether to continue studying in high school or transfer to vocational training institutions,” said Mr. Luu Hoang Hieu.
At Chu Van An Secondary School in Rach Gia Ward, approximately 60% of students continue their education at public high schools each year, over 20% enroll in vocational schools, and the remainder choose other paths or enter the workforce. This year, the school has about 220 ninth-grade students. Mr. Duong Tan Viet, the principal of Chu Van An Secondary School, stated: “The school is actively implementing career counseling and guidance to effectively manage student placement after graduating from secondary school. All information regarding enrollment is continuously updated and shared with homeroom teachers to disseminate to parent groups, ensuring they have full information about post-graduation education options. The school also collaborates with many vocational training institutions to organize direct enrollment counseling sessions for students.”
For many years, Kien Giang College has consistently focused on collaborating with other schools to implement career guidance and student placement after lower secondary education. Accordingly, the college supports lower secondary schools in conducting experiential learning and career guidance activities; provides direct admissions counseling at lower secondary schools; organizes career guidance and counseling programs at the college; and facilitates student visits to learn about admissions information and training activities at Kien Giang College. Dr. Nguyen Minh Quan, Principal of Kien Giang College, shared that the college is ready to cooperate with lower secondary schools to implement career guidance and counseling for students. The college's highest goal is to provide the most accurate and complete information to students and parents so that parents have a solid foundation for guiding their children's future. The college will develop specific plans and solutions to improve the effectiveness of post-lower secondary education placement and prepare the best conditions for the upcoming vocational high school training program.
Early guidance for students in choosing suitable educational paths not only helps reduce pressure on general education but also improves the quality of vocational training. Effective career guidance also helps to better utilize each student's abilities and strengths, creating conditions for their holistic development and early entry into the labor market, contributing to the sustainable socio -economic development of the locality.
