By the morning of November 26, floods in the Central provinces had caused heavy damage with 108 people dead and missing, and estimated economic losses of about 14,352 billion VND. While the recovery work is still underway, localities continue to urgently prepare to respond to storm No. 15 - storm Koto.

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), on the night of November 25, storm Koto entered the eastern sea area of ​​the central East Sea, becoming the 15th storm in 2025.

From the night of November 25 to the morning of November 26, the area from Hue to Quang Ngai recorded widespread rain from 20-40mm, some places had heavy rain such as Bach Ma 121mm, Xuan Loc 87mm.

On rivers, water levels are decreasing but remain high: Kon River (Gia Lai) is at alert level 1; Srepok and Krong Ana Rivers ( Dak Lak ) are at alert level 2. It is forecasted that in the next 12-24 hours, water levels on rivers will continue to decrease.

On the morning of November 26, cold air affected the North and Central Central regions, causing severe cold in the northern mountainous areas. Some highland areas need to be on guard against the risk of frost.

At sea, strong winds of level 6-8, gusts of level 9-11, rough seas, posing danger to boats and fishing activities.

As of 6:30 a.m. on November 26, localities from Da Nang to Ca Mau had notified, counted, and instructed 49,327 vehicles with 272,356 people to proactively avoid the storm.

According to the Border Guard Command, there are currently: 92 ships/683 people operating in the central East Sea area; 7,947 ships/51,177 people operating in other areas; 41,288 ships/220,496 people anchored at ports.

In addition, the coastal area from Quang Tri to An Giang has about 196,000 hectares of aquaculture with nearly 370,000 cages and many aquaculture watchtowers.

The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention said that reservoirs in the Central region are operating stably, some reservoirs are releasing water to ensure downstream safety. Dike lines throughout the region are being closely monitored and supervised.

Authorities continue to request localities to proactively prepare response plans for storm No. 15, check vulnerable points, and prepare rescue forces, materials, and equipment.
