| Durian growers in Dak Lak cultivate their fruit using safe technical procedures for export. |
According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, in the context of many importing markets, especially China, strengthening control over cadmium levels in imported durian, Dak Lak province continues to maintain and strengthen regular monitoring of this indicator in growing areas, collection and packaging facilities. At the same time, the locality should review the use of fertilizers, soil conditioners, and irrigation water sources to proactively prevent pollution risks and ensure stable durian export activities in the future.
To enhance food safety control for exported durian and mitigate the risk of warnings from importing markets, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection requests the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dak Lak province to direct specialized units to increase sampling and monitoring of durian for Cadmium and pesticide residues; promote guidance to producers on the proper use of pesticides according to regulations and permitted lists, ensuring the required withdrawal period; and strengthen inspection and monitoring of pesticide business and use in the locality, especially in durian growing areas for export.
