Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong informed that in 2026, serious and complicated corruption, waste and negative cases that are of public concern will be thoroughly handled. Strengthening control of power, preventing and combating corruption, waste and negative cases in the operation of two-level local governments.

On December 9, the National Assembly listened to the Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong report on the work of preventing and combating corruption in 2025. Regarding the direction and tasks of work in 2026, Mr. Doan Hong Phong said that he will focus on implementing the viewpoints and goals of the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress on the work of preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity (PCTNLPTC). Effectively organize the implementation of the 2026 Work Program of the Steering Committee   and resolutions, conclusions, and directives of the Party, National Assembly, Government, and Prime Minister on   prevent corruption, waste, and negativity   Continue to focus on building and perfecting the legal system, fully institutionalizing the Party's policies and guidelines on PCTNLPTC into laws , and avoiding difficulties and bottlenecks in implementing the two-level local government model.

In addition, thoroughly handle serious, complicated corruption, waste, and negative cases that are of public concern. Strengthen control over power,   prevent corruption, waste, and negativity   in the process of operating two-level local government.  

On the other hand, focus on inspection, examination, timely detection, prevention and handling of violations, corruption, waste and negativity. Focus on developing science, technology, innovation, especially administrative procedure reform; build and share national databases. Implement solutions for redundant public headquarters and ongoing projects and works that must be stopped due to administrative unit rearrangement. Focus on completing the review, clarifying the causes and proposing policies and solutions for projects.   slow progress, long backlog, low efficiency, risk of loss and waste

Mr. Doan Hong Phong also informed that he will control assets and income according to regulations; deploy the assessment of anti-corruption work of localities and ministries and branches; expand international cooperation in anti-corruption; strengthen extradition measures, arrest fugitives and recover assets that have been smuggled abroad.

Making a recommendation, Mr. Doan Hong Phong suggested that the National Assembly and the National Assembly Standing Committee continue to direct the review and handling of loopholes and inadequacies that can easily lead to corruption, waste, and negativity in the system of legal documents .

Along with that, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, business associations, professional associations, press and media agencies and the People actively contributed ideas to build and perfect legal policies; continued to closely coordinate with the Government and ministries, branches, localities and functional agencies to effectively carry out activities of monitoring, propagating, disseminating and educating laws on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.
