Although expected to have an equal match with the young opponent from China, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa's students encountered many difficulties in organizing tactics.
Shanghai U21 possesses a fast playing style, tight blocking and effective scoring ability on both sides, preventing the Vietnamese women's volleyball team from fully utilizing their strength. In addition, the Vietnamese hitters continuously made mistakes in their first steps and movements, leaving many gaps for the opponent to score easily.
In the first set, Bich Thuy and her teammates lost quickly with a score of 17-25. In the next two sets, the team played better, the tug-of-war was maintained until the end of the game, but the spirit of U21 Shanghai helped them win with the same score of 25-23, thereby securing the final victory of 3-0.
With this result, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team ranked 4th in the tournament. Although they could not win a medal, this is still a step forward compared to last year's tournament when the team only ranked 5th overall.
Shanghai Future Stars 2025 is a useful playground for young athletes to gain experience in international competitions. This result also helps the coaching staff evaluate their strength, aiming for longer-term goals such as the 2025 Asian Cup and the 33rd SEA Games.
