Shaw has started all 38 Premier League matches this season. |
On the evening of May 24th, Shaw concluded the season in an impressive way by starting against Brighton. He became only the second Manchester United player other than a goalkeeper to start all 38 Premier League matches in the last 10 seasons, after Harry Maguire in the 2019/20 season.
This also marks the first time in his career that the English defender has started in every single Premier League match, a significant milestone after a long period battling injuries.
Shaw's consistent and steady return is seen as one of MU's biggest highlights this season, and also shows that the 30-year-old defender has truly overcome the most difficult period of his career.
In the past, Shaw's extensive injury history prevented him from maintaining consistent form. In the 2015/16 season, he only played in 5 matches, and in the 2014/25 season, he only appeared 7 times in the Premier League. Therefore, maintaining consistent fitness throughout the current season is a major turning point in the English defender's career.
Shaw's transformation is linked to positive changes under manager Michael Carrick. The intensity of play has been adjusted appropriately, along with a scientific training and recovery method, helping him minimize the risk of injury. The fact that MU doesn't have to play too many matches (around 40 games all season) also allows Shaw to maintain his best physical condition.
