Continuing her impressive performance in the Asian arena, "trail running queen" Ha Thi Hau once again made her mark with her talent when she won the women's ELEPHANT 100 (95.6 km - 5,118 m+) event at HOKA Chiang Mai UTMB 2025, taking place in Thailand.

Starting at 9am at Wat Nhong Bua Noi hill, Ha Thi Hau completed the gruelling race when it was already dark. With a time of 10 hours 43 minutes 28 seconds, the 33-year-old runner from Lao Cai not only topped the women's category but also ranked 6th overall, surpassing a series of strong opponents in both the men's and women's categories from trail running powerhouses such as China, Portugal, Russia...

Finished at dusk, after more than 10 hours of competition
Having succeeded in prestigious international trail running competitions, Ha Thi Hau has shown her endurance and ability to compete consistently on routes with high cumulative altitude, continuously going up and down slopes and crossing canyons in harsh weather conditions. ELEPHANT 100 is one of the most difficult distances of the Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB, which gathers many star athletes in the UTMB World Series system.

The result at UTMB Chiang Mai 2025 is even more meaningful because just a month ago, Ha Thi Hau won the 105km distance at the Tsaigu Trail 2025 (China) - a race famous for its rugged terrain, cold weather and wind cutting, often considered on par with high-level UTMB stages in the Asian region.
The consecutive victories at distances over 100 km demonstrate the excellent physical strength and remarkable progress of the runner who is also a tour guide in the continent's top trail runner group.

Last year, Ha Thi Hau won the 50km distance in Chiang Mai Thailand by UTMB in December 2024, an achievement that opened the way for her successful days in the UTMB system. Since that milestone, Hau has gradually become a familiar face on the highest podium of international trail races, regularly appearing in the overall top and dominating the women's category.

Ha Thi Hau's impressive achievement, ranked only behind 5 male runners
With two consecutive championships in major regional tournaments, Ha Thi Hau not only reaffirmed her position as Vietnam's "trail running queen", but also brought the country's trail running genre further on the Asian sports map.
Hau's next challenge will be more rigorous distances in the UTMB World Series system, where she is expected to continue to write new milestones for Vietnamese sports.
