IMBC is an annual academic competition for students majoring in Medicine and Pharmacy, focusing on knowledge of Medical Biochemistry and the ability to apply it to clinical situations. This year’s competition attracted more than 120 contestants from 21 universities at home and abroad.
The HIU team consisted of Tran Minh Tung, Nguyen Thanh Dat, Bui Ba Thai Hoang and Bui Nam Phuong. As a result, Tran Minh Tung won the Gold Medal, Nguyen Thanh Dat the Silver Medal, and the other two students received the Bronze Medal. This is the second consecutive year that HIU Medical students have achieved success in this competition.

According to the Organizing Committee, the HIU team's performance was highly appreciated for its ability to reason logically and respond quickly in simulated clinical situations. The contestants showed good teamwork and scientific presentation skills, especially in the English debate.
MSc. Tran Trung Dung, Deputy Head of the Department of Biochemistry, who guided the team, said the team had been trained for nearly a year, with in-depth discussions and simulations of international exams. “ The learning method based on critical thinking and research helps students understand deeply, instead of memorizing, thereby giving them more confidence when entering academic exams,” he said.
After two consecutive IMBC seasons with high results, HIU Faculty of Medicine expanded academic activities, built specialized clubs, simulation seminars and student research groups, to create a more dynamic learning environment for students.
The achievements at IMBC 2025 are considered a positive signal, reflecting the integration capacity of Vietnamese students in international academic playgrounds, and at the same time showing the effectiveness of the applied medical training direction - combining theory, practice and research - being implemented by many domestic universities.
