Despite not having the sharpest performance, Jannik Sinner still showed outstanding class to complete a perfect group stage at the Nitto ATP Finals, extending his indoor winning streak to 29 matches.

The world No. 2 defeated a spirited Ben Shelton 6-3, 7-6(3), officially ending the American's season. Despite struggling to find his serve rhythm, Sinner still showed his mettle to maintain his perfect record in Turin.

“When you come here and win all three group games, you have to play at a very high level, and I did that. Serving very well in the important moments has brought me here. It was a very special day playing in front of the home crowd, and playing against Ben is always a difficult challenge,” Sinner said after the match.

Sinner has secured the top spot in Bjorn Borg's group. With Carlos Alcaraz also advancing, a potential final between the two rivals is looming if both win their semi-finals. Sinner will face Alex de Minaur, while Alcaraz, who topped Jimmy Connors' group, will face Felix Auger-Aliassime.

“I’m very happy for him. When you have losses like this, it’s tough. So, credit to him for coming back with an incredible performance against Taylor Fritz. I have to be very careful, because he has nothing to lose, and I have a lot to worry about,” Sinner said of De Minaur, who made an impressive comeback after a heavy loss to Lorenzo Musetti.

In their fourth meeting of 2025, Shelton recovered from a nervous start with a promising second-set surge, fueled by explosive serve. The 23-year-old dropped just two of his 18 points in the first nine games of the set.

However, after saving a match point in game 10, Shelton was overwhelmed in the tiebreak as Sinner regained control with a series of accurate net shots, thereby sealing his eighth consecutive head-to-head win over the American (8-1). Sinner has won eight consecutive matches at the ATP Finals without dropping a set.
