After announcing the standard score sheet and the list of admitted students for the 10th grade Russian language class of Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training received a petition from parents about their children having enough points but not being on the list. That candidate is PNHT, registration number 150.XXX, with 35.5 points, enough to be admitted for the second time to the 10th grade Russian language class.
During the inspection, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training determined that candidate PNHT, who scored 35.5 points, was qualified for admission but was not on the list. Among the 35 candidates on the admission list, candidate PHH scored 34.95 points, ranked last in order of admission from highest to lowest. Accordingly, to ensure the rights of candidates, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training adjusted the list, recognizing candidate PNHT with 35.5 points as admitted and removing candidate PHH with 34.95 points from the list.
Explaining why those with enough points were not on the list, while those with insufficient points were on the list, the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training said it was due to a technical error. Specifically, PNHT candidates registered for 5 wishes in turn from specialized classes in English, Chinese, French, Korean and Russian. Wish 6 was Le Hong Phong High School.
When the first score announcement was made, knowing that he did not have enough points to apply to Tran Phu High School for the Gifted but only had enough points to apply to Le Hong Phong High School, candidate PNHT withdrew his application to Le Hong Phong High School to transfer to Vinschool Imperia Primary, Secondary and High School. Meanwhile, the admission software was programmed based on the candidate's wishes. When PNHT was admitted to Le Hong Phong High School but did not enroll, the admission software system automatically removed the candidate's name from the second admission list. This is the reason why PNHT's name was not on the list of candidates admitted to Tran Phu High School for the Gifted.
It is known that Tran Phu High School for the Gifted is the leading educational institution in Hai Phong, so many students and parents dream of their children studying in this school. Therefore, the above incident has had a significant impact on the psychology of students and parents. In the case of PHH and her family, she had high hopes of studying at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted. When her name was on the admission list, PHH could not hide her joy and pride with her relatives and friends... Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Hai Phong said that it had accepted responsibility for the mistake and publicly apologized to candidate PHH and her family.
Notably, this is the second apology from the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training in the same 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year. The first time was for the discrepancy between the announced benchmark scores and the results of the Admissions Council of Thuy Huong High School and Nhu Van Lan High School.
Working with reporters from CAND Newspaper, a representative of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training said that the Department will work with the supplier to promptly fix and complete the enrollment software system to avoid unfortunate incidents like the above from happening.
