According to the Da Nang City Statistics Office, in the first 6 months of 2024, the city's GRDP is estimated to increase by 5.00%, of which the service sector increased by 5.99%, contributing mainly to the overall GRDP growth with 4.17 percentage points. The number of tourists increased, estimated at 5.1 million, but the number of days of stay decreased. The average number of overnight guests in the first 6 months was only 1.38 days/visit, of which international visitors were 1.45 days/visit, domestic visitors were 1.31 days/visit.
According to the representative of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City, the trend of tourists moving and changing destinations is, for example, Korean tourists moving to new destinations, including Hue , Hoi An, Nha Trang City... Tourists want to experience more than just one destination, experience many services, many accommodation facilities...
The Da Nang City Statistics Office also pointed out that: “Tourism businesses in Da Nang face difficulties in terms of reinvestment capital, land rent, etc. Investment in upgrading existing products and services, as well as investment in new tourism products and services, is still limited. Although domestic airfares have shown signs of decreasing, they are still quite high compared to other countries, so people choose to travel to nearby destinations or travel abroad, affecting the attraction of domestic tourists.”
With the National Assembly passing the Resolution on piloting special mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City, the Da Nang tourism industry expects that according to this Resolution, Da Nang City will attract many investors in the fields of trade and services, including tourism.
“The Prime Minister approved the Tourism System Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045. It has given Da Nang City some priorities for tourism. This is one of the advantages for Da Nang City to develop tourism,” said a representative of the Da Nang City Department of Tourism.
At the press conference announcing the socio-economic statistics for the first 6 months of 2024, Mr. Tran Van Vu - Director of the Department of Statistics, Da Nang City - said: "Da Nang needs to focus resources to exploit new tourism products, contributing to increasing the competitiveness of the destination to attract tourists. Continue to promote the opening of direct international flights to Da Nang from international markets, exploit the market of sea and road passengers, link to form and create a trend of experiential tourism by train...".
