On the morning of May 19th, at the National Historical and Cultural Relic Site of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple (Long Duc Ward), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province organized a ceremony to report achievements to President Ho Chi Minh. This activity commemorated the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026).

In his report to President Ho Chi Minh, Comrade Cao Quoc Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated: Implementing the Provincial Party Committee's Resolution and the Provincial People's Committee's Plan for socio -economic development in 2026, and based on the professional guidance of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the collective of the Vinh Long Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has strived to compete, focusing on implementing key tasks and achieving many positive results in the first months of 2026.
In the cultural field, the department has actively advised and proposed to the Party Committee, the government, and the Organizing Committee of major holidays to develop plans for organizing holidays and anniversaries effectively. This includes advising on the successful organization of activities during the Lunar New Year of the Horse in 2026… Notably, the New Year's Eve art program celebrating the Party and the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse took place at Long Chau ward square, Nguyet Hoa ward square, and My Hoa park (Ben Tre ward). It also successfully organized a televised program launching a widespread political activity campaign and action movement to implement the Resolutions of the Party Congress at all levels for the 2025-2030 term and to celebrate the successful election of the 16th National Assembly and the People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term at three locations (Long Chau ward, Nguyet Hoa ward, and An Hoi ward); and successfully organized an art program commemorating the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. 136th Anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's Birth at Long Chau Ward Park…
The Department has advised and submitted to the Provincial People's Committee several draft resolutions on the cultural sector and launched a competition to create a logo for Vinh Long province. As a result, 486 entries were received from 273 authors/groups of authors. The awards ceremony is expected to be held on the occasion of the first anniversary of the province's establishment (July 1, 2026).

In the field of sports, the province's sports teams participated in many national, regional, and international competitions. Through these competitions, they won a total of 124 medals, including 30 gold, 18 silver, and 86 bronze.
The tourism sector continues to record many positive developments, reflected in the increase in both the number of visitors and revenue compared to the same period last year. The total number of tourists is estimated at approximately 2 million, an increase of 14.5% compared to the same period, reaching 21.9% of the plan. The number of international visitors increased sharply, reaching approximately 384,000, an increase of 111.0% compared to the same period, reaching 25.6% of the plan. In terms of revenue, total revenue from tourism is estimated at approximately 2 trillion VND, an increase of 30.7% compared to the same period, reaching 21.7% of the plan. The province continues to refine the criteria for green tourism in Vinh Long and implement the process of establishing a record for the locality with the most sand dunes.
The Information, Press, and Publishing Department advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Plan for External Information and Grassroots Information in Vinh Long province in 2026. They continued to finalize the draft Resolution of the Provincial People's Council regulating the remuneration and fees for media products at the commune level in Vinh Long province. They also effectively implemented the propaganda guidelines for press agencies in the province.
In Party building work, the Department's Party Committee has effectively implemented and concretized documents from higher-level Party committees to the Party committees of the branches; completed the registration for studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style (2026 theme) and the emulation movement for skillful mass mobilization, ensuring that 100% of Party members, civil servants, public employees, and workers registered to study and follow Uncle Ho.
On behalf of the entire sector, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Cao Quoc Dung, emphasized: “In the coming time, imbued with the oath before the Party and before the spirit of Uncle Ho, we pledge to continue to constantly strive to study, cultivate, train, contribute, and grow, to build for ourselves a beautiful character, worthy of being useful citizens of society, and truly loyal servants of the people as Uncle Ho taught. We will continuously innovate and improve the quality of our work in all areas of the sector, taking advantage of resources to build the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector of the province to develop further, worthy of being the core force contributing to the successful implementation of the goals and tasks set forth by the First Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee.”

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized many activities at the National Historical and Cultural Relic Site of the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple (Long Duc Ward) such as: releasing fish into the lotus pond; a thematic exhibition "Ho Chi Minh - The Most Beautiful Name"; folk games and an educational program "Cultural Heritage Lesson"... Through these activities, the Department continued to educate revolutionary traditions for generations of cadres, Party members, civil servants, and workers throughout the sector.
