Ms. Le Thuy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairwoman of the Provincial Youth Union Council, said: The commemorative activities were carried out by the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Youth Union Council with the theme "The scarves are forever on your shoulders" taking place from April 28 to May 31, 2025, with a peak from May 12 to 19. This is an opportunity for the team members to express their deep gratitude to beloved Uncle Ho, and an opportunity to educate the young generation about traditions, ideals, ethics, and lifestyles, the future owners of the country.
Across the province, 365 teams have proactively developed plans suitable to actual conditions. The activities are diverse, such as: propagating the tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers; team activities, children's stars associated with the campaign "Every week a beautiful story, a good book, a shining example"; organizing journeys to the source, to red addresses; recruiting new team members; caring for children in difficult circumstances; implementing the program "Border lessons" at border schools.
At Hoang Dong Primary School (Lang Son City), a series of activities have been taking place since the beginning of May, including telling stories about Uncle Ho and displaying paintings about him. At the library, students attentively read books and discussed his life and moral example like “little researchers”.
Hoang Quynh Thu, a student of class 5A1, Hoang Dong Primary School, shared: I really like the storytelling competition about Uncle Ho. Through the stories, I understand more about Uncle Ho's feelings for children and try to study better to be worthy of that attention.
The competitive atmosphere also spreads to schools in remote areas. At Kien Moc Primary Boarding School I (Dinh Lap District), despite many difficulties, team activities are still maintained regularly and creatively. A typical example is the program "Border Lessons" organized by the school in coordination with officers and soldiers of Bac Xa Border Guard Station. During the activities, border guards "taught the class", helping students understand the border, national sovereignty, the meaning of landmarks and the Vietnamese national flag.
Mr. Chu Ngoc Quang, Head of the Youth Union, Kien Moc Primary Boarding School No. 1, said: The presence of the border guards not only enlivens the activities but also helps students become more aware of peace and the responsibility to protect the Fatherland from an early age.
Along with traditional education, the movements “Thousands of good deeds” and “One good deed a week following Uncle Ho’s example” were also strongly implemented. The emulation period coincided with the end of the school year, so students actively reviewed and strived to achieve good results in the second semester exam. Along with that, the teams launched the “Small Plan” movement to encourage students to collect scrap paper and old books and newspapers to raise funds. Each team member contributed 1 kg of scrap paper or more. Some students also proactively arranged old books to give to classmates in disadvantaged areas. Many teams also implemented projects and youth work such as: building a “Space for reading, interacting and team activities”; presenting “Red Scarf Houses” to disadvantaged students; opening swimming classes to prevent drowning... These activities contributed to fostering skills, sharing spirit, and community responsibility for children.
According to statistics from the Provincial Youth Union Council, up to now, the activities have attracted over 70,000 team members and children to participate; 100% of the teams have organized thematic activities to learn about the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers, young heroes and martyrs and Uncle Ho's affection for children. The whole province has admitted over 4,200 children to the Team; inaugurated 2 "Red Scarf" houses in Trang Dinh and Bac Son; presented hundreds of gifts, supported books and equipment for school libraries.
The exciting and meaningful activities in May not only help children love the team more, but also foster patriotism and responsibility towards the community. From there, they have more motivation to study, practice, become good citizens, and contribute to the development of Lang Son.
