Many sections are degraded.
Provincial Road 8 is 48.8km long, passing through the communes of Dien Dien, Dien Lam, Bac Khanh Vinh and Tan Dinh, starting at the intersection with National Highway 1 in Dien Dien commune, ending at the intersection with National Highway 26 in Tan Dinh commune. This is the main route of the East-West horizontal axis system connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 26, with a very high traffic density, especially trucks carrying construction materials and minerals serving the soil and stone mines, concrete stations located along both sides of the road. The operation of this route has created favorable conditions for people in the communes to travel conveniently and trade smoothly. However, due to the high traffic density and continuous running of trucks, some sections of the route have deteriorated, with potholes and cracks appearing on the road surface.
At the intersection of Provincial Road 8 and Ha Huy Tap Street (in Dien Dien Commune), the drainage system was buried, the road surface was peeling and water was stagnant. |
In particular, some drainage ditches along the route are buried and have lost their drainage capacity. Some sections in Dien Lam and Bac Khanh Vinh communes have sunk deeply and are waterlogged. If not repaired, they will be more severely damaged when large trucks carrying rocks and fresh cement continuously pass by. At the intersection of Provincial Road 8 and Ha Huy Tap Street (in Dien Dien commune), the drainage system is buried, the road surface is peeling and waterlogged. In particular, this area is densely populated and has many students, so traffic safety is not guaranteed.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hai (Dien Dien Commune) said that in recent years, the Provincial Road 8 area has a very high density of vehicles passing through, many newly repaired sections of the road quickly peeled off, gradually forming potholes, flooding when it rains, and dusty when it is sunny. People living on both sides of the road really hope that the authorities will soon have a solution to deal with the flooding situation, invest in upgrading the road, and facilitate traffic.
More than 17 billion VND for upgrading and repairing
According to the leaders of the Department of Construction, in recent years, to protect the structure of the works, maintain the good operation of the road, and ensure traffic safety, the province has invested in repairing and maintaining many sections on Provincial Road 8. However, currently, some sections have been damaged, many places have sunk, cracked, and have potholes, making the road surface uneven and unsafe for traffic. In order to protect the structure of the traffic works, fix the damaged areas, and extend the life of the works, the Department of Construction has made a plan and proposed to repair some sections on Provincial Road 8. Recently, the Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution approving the tasks and budget estimates for the repair of Provincial Road 8, with items such as: Repairing potholes, asphalt pavement, repairing cement concrete curbs, painting the road surface for traffic safety, remaking some drainage ditches, etc.; the total cost of implementation is 17.2 billion VND, to be completed in 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction said that in the near future, the department will urgently complete the approval of investment procedures for repairing Provincial Road 8, and prepare to organize a bidding to select a contractor. The repair will be completed before the rainy season this year to facilitate people's travel. Because this is a road that is both repaired and exploited, during the construction process, the department will require the contractor to ensure the safety of people and vehicles participating in traffic; the construction site must be equipped with construction site signs, traffic lights, etc. The urgent repair of Provincial Road 8 is very necessary to meet travel needs, effectively exploit the road, and serve the socio -economic development of the locality.
