According to the report of Gia Phu Commune People's Committee on the results of coordinated patrolling, controlling and arresting groups of subjects suspected of illegal mineral exploitation in the area, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has directed a series of measures to strengthen the management and protection of unexploited mineral resources and strictly handle violations in accordance with legal regulations.
The People's Committee of Son La province assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with agencies and establishments to organize the implementation of the contents of Directive No. 11/CT-UBND dated May 6, 2025 of the province on protection of unexploited minerals.

Urge the People's Committees of communes and wards to develop plans and projects for mineral protection according to Decision No. 2549/QD-UBND dated October 2, 2017, report the implementation results to the Provincial People's Committee before August 30 and periodically every 3 months from August 1.
Son La Provincial Police are required to increase patrols, inspections, and strictly handle acts of illegal mining, processing, purchasing, storing, and transporting of minerals. In particular, focus on fighting against smuggling and trade fraud in the mineral sector, especially rare minerals, river sand, gravel, and group I minerals.

The provincial police were also assigned to coordinate with the Department of Construction, other forces and localities to strictly control the transportation of oversized and overloaded minerals that cause damage to traffic infrastructure, as well as investigate and crack down on cases of transporting minerals of unknown origin with signs of criminal violations.
The Department of Finance is assigned to coordinate with the People's Committee of Gia Phu commune in arranging facilities and warehouses to temporarily hold evidence from illegal gold mining activities in Suoi Chat village and a plan to handle related assets.

The Department of Industry and Trade proactively coordinated with the Provincial Police to verify the trading and transportation of explosives and detonators for illegal mining in the above area.
Gia Phu Commune People's Committee was assigned to develop a specific plan to protect unexploited minerals according to Decision 2549; immediately deploy solutions in Suoi Chat village.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Commune People's Committee to establish and maintain a hotline to receive and handle information about denunciations of illegal mining activities, disseminate laws in villages and residential areas, and promote the role of people in monitoring and detecting violations.
The People's Committee of the commune assigns staff to regularly monitor the situation and promptly report to the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Agriculture and Environment. At the same time, strictly manage the confiscated exhibits and coordinate with the Department of Finance in preserving and handling them according to the provisions of law.

Previously, after Nhan Dan Newspaper's reflection on the illegal mineral exploitation situation, the Secretary of Son La Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee directly directed and chaired a meeting with drastic instructions on illegal mineral exploitation activities.
At the meetings, the leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Son La province clearly expressed their determination to handle the situation and have no restricted areas. At the same time, they directed to continue to clarify violations in areas with illegal mineral exploitation activities.

The leaders of Son La province also requested that in cases with sufficient grounds, the case file be completed to initiate a prosecution, making "a case to warn the whole region", serving the work of propaganda and legal education throughout the province.
The drastic direction from the provincial level has clearly demonstrated an uncompromising stance towards the situation of illegal mineral exploitation, which is becoming more complicated in some areas.
