During the period 2021-2025, the development of rural transportation has become one of the major breakthroughs, creating a foundation for significant changes in Son Luong.

According to Trinh Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Son Luong Commune Party Committee, from the beginning of the previous term, the commune identified rural transportation as a key factor in socio -economic development. The overarching policy was that road construction must be linked to the overall planning, avoiding overlaps, not investing in a scattered manner, and simultaneously synchronized with the criteria for building new rural areas.
"To gain the trust and support of the people, officials must make it clear to them the long-term benefits of each road. Wherever roads are built, livelihoods open up; production becomes easier, and living standards gradually improve," Mr. Trinh Xuan Thanh emphasized.
Based on that orientation, the commune proactively integrated various resources, maximized the use of programs and projects, and considered the consensus of the people as the decisive factor. This approach created a widespread and vibrant road-building movement throughout the commune.
During the period 2021-2024, the implementation of rural road construction in the commune achieved many outstanding results. The entire commune constructed nearly 68 km of new roads of various types and expanded 1.8 km of rural roads. Significant contributions came from the former communes: Suoi Quyen (nearly 31 km); Sung Do (10 km); Son Luong (nearly 4 km and expanded 1.8 km); and Nam Muoi (5.9 km).
In particular, the 20.3 km long Son Luong - Nam Muoi - Sung Do connecting road has become an important link, creating momentum for inter-regional development.

The total investment in transportation infrastructure reached over 250 billion VND, of which the state budget contributed over 23 billion VND; the people contributed nearly 7.5 billion VND. The Son Luong - Nam Muoi - Sung Do road alone received an investment of 220 billion VND. In addition to contributing money, the people also donated over 34.5 hectares of land and contributed over 15,000 man-days of labor – figures that clearly demonstrate the spirit of consensus and community responsibility.
Besides roads, the commune also invested 6.5 billion VND in building a concrete bridge in Lien Suu village, solving the problem of safe travel for people, especially during the rainy season and floods.
In 2025, Son Luong commune continued to maintain its investment pace. The entire commune implemented 5 road projects, paving 10.4 km of roads; the people donated approximately 3.6 hectares of land and contributed over 500 man-days of labor. The total investment reached over 41 billion VND, of which the state budget contributed nearly 40 billion VND, and other legally mobilized sources contributed over 1.7 billion VND.

Behind these figures lies the story of persistent and flexible community mobilization efforts. Mr. Giàng A Pó, the head of Sùng Đô village, is the man who "went door to door," patiently campaigning and explaining to the people so they understood and agreed.
"Initially, many households were hesitant because donating land meant losing their means of production, but when they saw that the road was completed, vehicles could reach the fields, and goods could be sold at higher prices, the people voluntarily participated," Mr. Giàng A Pó shared.
In Nga Ba village, Mr. Giang A Lau's household readily donated a large portion of their agricultural land to widen the road. In Sung Do village, the households of Giang A Chu and Vang A Chu voluntarily dismantled their fences, yielding land for the inter-village road. In Hao Panh village, the households of Ban Thi Coi, Ban Kim Hin, and Ban Ton Them not only donated land but also actively contributed labor. In Lien Suu village, there is the household of Dang Ton Nhi; in Giong village, there is the household of Ha Ngoc Ninh... - people who consider road construction a shared responsibility with the community.
"Building roads is for the sake of our children and grandchildren in the future. With roads, going to school, going to the market, and going to the hospital will all be more convenient," Mrs. Ban Thi Coi said simply but convincingly.

With improved transportation infrastructure, the socio-economic landscape in Son Luong has also transformed significantly. Agricultural products are transported more easily, costs are reduced, and market access is better. Small-scale household and group-based commodity production, livestock farming, and crop cultivation have the opportunity to expand. Community tourism and small-scale services are gradually developing, creating additional livelihoods for the people.
More importantly, improved transportation has contributed to strengthening the people's trust in the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State. People no longer have a mentality of waiting and relying on others, but actively participate with the government in building their homeland.

The experience in Son Luong shows that developing rural transportation is not just about investing in infrastructure, but about investing in the future. Newly opened roads have connected development spaces, unlocked resources, improved the quality of life, and created a sustainable foundation for building new rural areas.
In the next phase, Son Luong will continue to uphold the spirit of "the State and the People working together," linking transportation investment with long-term socio-economic development planning, ensuring a balance between immediate and long-term interests. When the people's trust is strengthened, and each road project is a culmination of the Party's will and the people's aspirations, Son Luong will have more momentum to break through and steadily advance on the path of sustainable development.
