For many years, 107 households living in Thanh Hung 1 village have had to live in constant fear and worry because of the increasingly serious landslides. Many houses located close to the cliff have been hit by rocks and soil falling from above, even knocking down the entire house.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa's house in Thanh Hung 1 village is located about 2 meters from the cliff. The recent heavy rain caused a landslide, causing rocks and soil to flow down and destroy his family's toilet. Mr. Khoa said: "Every time it rains heavily and the wind is strong, my family loses sleep and appetite, fearing rocks and soil will fall on the house. During the heavy rain in October 2025, the landslide caused the toilet to collapse, rocks and soil to flow all over the house behind. Every time it rains heavily, my whole family has to move to another place because we are afraid of danger to our lives."

In the same situation, the wall of the outbuilding behind Mr. Nguyen Van Ly's house was also completely destroyed by rocks and soil overnight. Mr. Ly expressed his concern: "Every time it rains, my family feels very uneasy, afraid that rocks and soil could fall at any time. In particular, landslides often occur at midnight and early morning, so it is very difficult to prevent."

The houses in Thanh Hung 1 village are all located close to the cliff. When the rainy season comes, rainwater seeps into the cliff, making it very susceptible to landslides. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Bat, Head of Thanh Hung 1 village, said that landslides in Thanh Hung 1 village have occurred for many years and are now becoming more and more serious. The whole village has 1,800 people, but up to 570 people are facing the risk of landslides when the rainy season comes. Some households have had nearly half of their houses crushed by rocks and soil. Many houses are also deformed due to annual landslides. Every time there is information about rain and storms, the village authorities mobilize households to evacuate to ensure safety.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thuat, in Thanh Hung 1 village, said: “The landslide situation here is very serious. Households around here always have to live in fear every rainy and stormy season. We hope that the authorities at all levels will soon have a plan to handle and overcome the landslide situation so that the people of Thanh Hung 1 village can stabilize their lives and feel secure in working and producing.”

Faced with the landslide situation in Bo Trach commune, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed relevant departments and offices to inspect and survey the landslide locations; and advise the Provincial People's Committee on a treatment plan.

According to Vice Chairman of Bo Trach Commune People's Committee Phan Ngoc Lam, implementing the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and related departments and branches, the Commune People's Committee is developing a comprehensive plan to handle landslides, lowering the height of the slope according to regulations; conducting a review of all landslide-prone areas in the commune. After having a comprehensive plan, the Commune People's Committee will guide households at risk of landslides to improve the ground, plant deep-rooted native trees to stabilize the slope, and ensure the safety of the residential area. For households with financial difficulties, the Commune People's Committee will develop a need and plan to report to the Department of Finance for implementation to ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

More than ever, the people of Thanh Hung 1 village are urgently waiting for the authorities at all levels to soon complete and implement the proposed overall plan. Only when the remedial measures are implemented synchronously and thoroughly, hundreds of households in Thanh Hung 1 can stabilize their lives and work with peace of mind.
