Sony launches 27-inch PlayStation monitor with PS5 controller charging dock

Sony held its State of Play event, focusing on new PS5 launch titles in Japan and Asia. While most of the titles shown will likely be available in the US soon, the company did surprise us with a new PlayStation-branded gaming monitor.

Revealed at the end of the show, this PlayStation monitor features a 27-inch QHD IPS display, reaching a refresh rate of up to 240Hz when connected to PC and 120Hz when connected to PS5, and will launch next year.

The display also has a unique feature: a hook underneath the display that can both hold and charge the PS5's DualSense controller.

This new PlayStation display appears to be part of Sony's strategy of releasing PlayStation-branded peripherals. In September, the company revealed the Pulse Elevate wireless speaker, which is expected to be compatible with the PS5 and will be released in 2026.

Previously, Sony released the Pulse Explore earbuds and Pulse Elite wireless headphones, as well as the PlayStation Portal controller for remote gaming.

After the event, Sony announced the specifications of the screen on its PlayStation Blog. Specifically, the company will use an IPS Quad High Definition panel with a resolution of up to 2,560x1,440 pixels.

Users can adjust or automatically set HDR during setup on PS5 consoles along with high dynamic range with tone mapping.

The device also supports VRR and refresh rates up to 120Hz for smooth and seamless gameplay on PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles and 240Hz on compatible PC and Mac devices.

The monitor's connections include two HDMI IN (version 2.1) ports and one DisplayPort IN (version 1.4)** port for compatibility with PS5, PC, Mac or other devices. The HDMI IN (version 2.1) port supports resolutions up to 2560 × 1440, 240Hz refresh rate, FRL, VRR; The DisplayPort IN (version 1.4) port supports resolutions up to 2560 × 1440, 240Hz refresh rate, DSC.

Two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port can be used with the PlayStation Link adapter or other devices.
