Spalletti makes Juventus debut: I came to win Serie A

Juventus have chosen Luciano Spalletti after sacking Igor Tudor – who tried to instill morale but failed to mend the wreck left by Thiago Motta.

The Turin club signed an eight-month contract with Spalletti, valid until the end of the season. The contract will be extended for one year if the team qualifies for the Champions League.

"There is no difficulty in accepting an 8-month contract, if I were Juventus, I would do the same ," Spalletti said before the match against Cremonese (2:45 a.m. November 2), round 10 of Serie A.

Spalletti has just been sacked by Italy for putting the team at a disadvantage in the race for a 2026 World Cup ticket – almost certainly having to play a play-off.

The 66-year-old coach is confident: “As I told the players, I hope we can return to the Scudetto championship race.

Ambition must always be at the highest level. There are still 29 games to go, and in my 30-year career I have been through all kinds of situations . ”

Tactically, Spalletti said he wanted Juventus to play beautiful football, like when he helped Napoli win Serie A 2023/24.

The Italian media questioned whether Spalletti was afraid of the precedent of "coaches who choose beautiful football " like Maurizio Sarri or Thiago Motta?

“We go out to win ,” Spalletti said optimistically. “Of course we will try to play beautiful football. Since I was a rival, I have always felt the beauty and modernity of this stadium.

Now, on the pitch, we will try to do something different. First we have to win, then we can talk about other things . ”

Interim coach Massimo Brambilla ended Juventus’ eight-game winless streak with a 3-1 win over Udinese. Spalletti is tasked with taking the Old Lady into the top four of Serie A – currently seventh – and winning the Champions League, against Sporting in midweek.

Before Spalletti's official debut, Dusan Vlahovic spoke up: "We changed three coaches in just one and a half years. We have to look back at ourselves, we can't blame one person. It's everyone's fault."

Spalletti was without injured star Kenan Yildiz and defender Lloyd Kelly for his debut at Cremonese, both of whom had been integral to Tudor's reign.
