Musician Viet Anh returns to the Vietnamese music market after 5 years of settling abroad with his family.
The music night "Going Home" by musician Viet Anh will take place on the evening of November 23 at Hoa Island - Ecovillage Saigon River, Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai Province. The music night will feature guest singers: Le Hieu, Thuy Chi, Phuong Vu, Tran Minh Dung.
Reporter: What is special about the music night "Going Home" that you want to introduce to the audience?
- Musician VIET ANH: "Going Home" is a performance in which music, the audience and the surrounding space are all the main characters. The concert will introduce new songs that have been written or performed for the first time in public and hopes that the audience will have memorable moments, easing the worries and chaos of everyday life.
The theme "Going Home" will make many people think of the new things he has gained from a foreign land. Is that correct?
- For me, "Going Home" this time is a return to look deep into myself, an opportunity to face my soul. It is also the beginning of the next topics in the journey to bring the audience interesting and exciting things.

Many of Viet Anh's songs have become "national songs" but it seems like he can no longer maintain his song writing form, right?
- Each generation will find a group of artists who represent their time. I have spent my whole life writing melodies and lyrics to find kindred spirits, people who share the same frequency and empathy. I believe that when music reaches a certain value and depth, it will remain.
Later, people in the industry knew that you were more inclined towards instrumental music. But the audience didn't see much of it. When did you introduce that to the public?
- Writing for instrumental music, dance music, ballet and musical theater... has always been an important part of my career. It also helps me dig deeper, helps me balance my life and music. I still nurture ideas to introduce my works to the public. For example, the program "Musical in the middle of nature" for families and children...
How is your work abroad?
- I still try to keep composing as part of my daily life. Besides, I teach music, my work also revolves around the guitar. My life in New Zealand is also very simple. Every day revolves around my family and the work I am doing.
Why did you choose to settle abroad instead of continuing to devote your talent to the country's music industry?
- There are stages in life that require different priorities. For me, where I live does not affect my life or work. No matter where I am, I do the same job with the same effort. While abroad, I have completed many works such as the musical "Diary of a Cricket", the dance drama "Kieu", the dance drama "Sunset" and will soon launch the dance drama "Dat Lanh"...
Even though he is a man of few words, surely fame has influenced his life to some extent?
- I think I'm the type of person who can blend in with the crowd. The songs have been in the drawer for a long time before they were sung and known. But I guess the attention helps me stay serious about my writing.
What concerns you most about your current life, Viet Anh?
- My concerns are probably similar to many people. The healthy development of my children. Health and peace for my loved ones. And maintaining my emotions in my work.
