- Work: Salty Water of Sour Field

Introduction: When talking about Ninh Hoa, we cannot help but mention the salt making profession in Hon Khoi, the vast salt fields with an area of over 700 hectares, where salt workers have been attached to their whole lives, from generation to generation. Starting from March to September every year, it is exploited by the traditional method: After passing through many reservoirs to increase salinity, seawater will be brought to the fields to crystallize. If the weather is sunny, each stage lasts from 7 to 15 days, one day before harvesting, the men use rakes to collect the salt. The next day, the salt workers start scooping and moving the salt to the shore, to avoid the scorching sun, they start working at 4 am, take a break in the middle of the day and return to work in the late afternoon. Each woman transports an average of 2 tons of salt a day from the fields to the dike with an average income of 200,000 VND a day. Although it is hard work, everyone is friendly and hospitable, sharing stories about life and work. Salt is not just a job but a destiny in life.
