According to Forbes data dated February 16th (29th day of the 12th lunar month), Vietnam currently has 8 USD billionaires with a total net worth of nearly $43 billion, or more than 1.1 trillion VND.
Notably, the recent list of Vietnamese billionaires includes three new individuals who have surpassed the $1 billion mark in net worth: Ms. Pham Thu Huong, Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, and Mr. Ngo Chi Dung.
Ms. Pham Thu Huong is currently the Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vingroup (stock code: VIC), wife of billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, and possesses assets worth $2.8 billion, ranking 1,450th in the world.
By the end of 2025, she directly held over 341 million VIC shares, equivalent to 4.4% of the group's charter capital.
Ms. Huong's younger sister, Ms. Pham Thuy Hang, also holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vingroup, with a net worth of $2 billion, ranking 2,006th globally. Ms. Hang currently holds approximately 228.3 million VIC shares, equivalent to nearly 3% of the group's capital.
The third new face is Mr. Ngo Chi Dung, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VPBank (stock code: VPB). He owns more than 328 million VPB shares, equivalent to 4.14% of the bank's capital, with a net worth of $1.1 billion, ranking 2,914th in the world.
Besides the emergence of new billionaires, the remaining five Vietnamese billionaires also saw their assets increase compared to last year, with the most notable being the dramatic increase of Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong.
Specifically, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong is currently the Chairman of Vingroup and the richest person in Vietnam, with a net worth of $26.1 billion, a 301% increase in one year, rising to position 88 on the list of the world's richest people.
Ranked second among Vietnamese billionaires is Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Vietjet Air and Permanent Vice Chairwoman of HDBank, with a net worth of $4.1 billion, a 47% increase compared to the previous year, ranking 1,002nd globally.
Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, has a net worth of $2.7 billion, an increase of $300 million (equivalent to 12.5%), ranking 1,508th in the world.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ho Hung Anh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Techcombank, recorded assets worth $2.4 billion, an increase of $400 million compared to a year earlier (equivalent to 20%), ranking 1,673rd globally.
Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang, Chairman of Masan Group, owns assets worth $1.1 billion, an increase of $100 million (10%) compared to last year, ranking 2,982nd in the world.
The year 2025 not only saw a significant increase in the wealth of Vietnamese billionaires, but also demonstrated the growing role of private corporations in fundamental sectors of the economy.
Vingroup Corporation is a prime example, consistently proposing large-scale projects such as the Olympic Sports Urban Area in Southern Hanoi (total capital of approximately 925,000 billion VND), the 54 km long Ben Thanh – Can Gio high-speed train line with a design speed of 350 km/hour, and expanding investment in wind power in Ha Tinh and several other localities.
In the industrial sector, Hoa Phat Group has invested over 10,000 billion VND in building a specialized steel plant for high-speed railways, gradually taking control of the domestic supply.
Meanwhile, Vietjet Air is implementing a nearly $100 million aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) center project at Long Thanh Airport, contributing to the completion of aviation technical infrastructure and enhancing Vietnam's position in the regional value chain.
