With less than a month to go before the opening of the 2026 World Cup in North America, FIFA has begun introducing several new activities for fans. Most notably, the FIFA Fan ID – a free physical card distributed to all ticket holders for the 104 matches.
According to FIFA, the “FIFA Fan ID” is not a ticket to the stadium or an entry permit. However, the organization says the card will give fans access to a variety of exclusive content and experiences throughout the 2026 World Cup.
The FIFA Fan ID is a personalizable physical card distributed at fan information booths in all 16 stadiums hosting the tournament.
After receiving the card, fans simply tap the card against their smartphone to unlock the digital ecosystem designed specifically for each supporter by FIFA.
This means fans can watch augmented reality videos , receive stadium information, and access a variety of interactive content on match day. Additionally, FIFA Fan ID allows fans to upload personal photos, videos, or moments to create personalized official souvenirs.
In addition, FIFA has integrated the FIFA Rewards program to reward fans who participate in activities throughout the tournament. According to plan, many new contents and features will continue to be updated regularly during the World Cup.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the FIFA Fan ID will unlock “a whole world of exclusive content, unforgettable experiences and memories for fans to cherish and share.” He also encouraged fans to use the card regularly to fully enjoy the World Cup atmosphere.
FIFA also advises fans to arrive at the stadium early to explore pre-kick-off activities. According to the organizers, the matchday experience will begin at least three hours before kick-off with various live entertainment programs, giveaways, and interactive activities exclusively for FIFA Fan ID holders.
The world's largest football organization is also urging fans to receive their cards from the very first match they attend. The FIFA Fan ID is designed as a lasting keepsake, and fans can continue to use it to unlock more content even if they don't attend matches in person.
The 2026 World Cup will be the first World Cup to feature 48 teams and will be co-hosted by three countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. FIFA anticipates the tournament will attract over 6 million live spectators and billions of global interactions, making it the largest World Cup in the history of world football.
