New Chairman of Hanoi talks about the capital's 5 priorities

In the immediate future, the new Chairman of Hanoi said that he and the City People's Committee will strive to achieve the highest level of socio-economic development goals and targets for 2025, especially the GRDP growth target of over 8%.

At the same time, Mr. Trung said he will focus on 5 priority areas.

One is to concretize and comprehensively implement the Resolution of the 18th City Party Congress and the strategic resolutions of the 13th Politburo ; tasks according to the directive speech of General Secretary To Lam at the congress and at working conferences with the city.

At the same time, review and perfect the model, improve the operational efficiency of two-level local governments, promote decentralization and delegation, promote the development creation function of grassroots governments associated with streamlining administrative procedures and digital transformation.

Second is to create institutional breakthroughs to achieve the growth target of over 11% in the next term based on the driving force of science and technology development, innovation and comprehensive digital transformation.

According to Mr. Trung, the city will focus on building digital government, digital economy, digital society, turning Hanoi into a national innovation center, with the digital economy making an increasingly large contribution to GRDP.

Along with that, the city will focus on developing education and training and improving the quality of human resources, maintaining the capital's sustainable quality of education and training, leading the country.

Third is to implement two major city plans, and at the same time review and adjust to meet new development requirements, focusing on solving issues of urban development, modern, smart, and green urban infrastructure.

Mr. Trung emphasized that the city will focus on handling four bottlenecks: traffic congestion; urban order, discipline and sanitation; environmental pollution; and flooding.

Along with that, the city will prioritize the development of underground spaces, traffic works, environment, healthcare, education, social housing, clean water, public spaces and dynamic development areas of Hanoi.

Fourth is to develop a knowledge-based economy associated with the culture and people of elegant and civilized Hanoi. Promote the green growth model and circular economy; at the same time, preserve and promote the cultural, heroic and creative values of Thang Long - Hanoi.

According to the new Chairman of Hanoi, the city will focus on ensuring social security at the same time as economic development, for the happiness of the people.

The fifth is to build a modern governance model with an honest, professional, responsible, and creative administrative apparatus, placing people at the center of all policies.
