From December to January 2026, many Christmas - New Year events and festivals will take place across the country. In Ho Chi Minh City, the 5th City Tourism Week will be held from December 5 to 12 in 168 wards, communes and Con Dao special zone, bringing a series of activities such as Cho Lon Food Story Festival, artistic kite flying and sea sports in Ho Tram, tourism products "Cultural Experience - Tan Dinh Imprint", the 240th anniversary of Lady Phi Yen's death in Con Dao...
To welcome the New Year, Ho Chi Minh City will organize high-altitude fireworks displays at 3 locations including the Saigon River tunnel entrance (An Khanh ward), the New City center (Binh Duong ward), Tam Thang square (Vung Tau ward); combined with a low-altitude fireworks display at Dam Sen Cultural Park (Binh Thoi ward), creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city.
On the other hand, Vietnamese families still limit their overseas trips at the end of the year, mainly waiting for the Tet holiday. However, China is a rare exception: searches for Shanghai and Beijing increased by 58% and 59%. New direct flights between Hanoi and many Chinese cities are considered to be the driving factor for this trend.
Previously, according to digital travel platform Booking.com, Vietnamese tourists paid great attention to domestic destinations such as Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi during the year-end season.
Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda, said: "It is wonderful to see Vietnam increasingly becoming the top choice for year-end holidays for families across Asia and the world. Vietnam is affirming its position as a friendly, experience-rich destination on the global tourism map."
