Strengthening Vietnam-Laos strategic ties

The working trip took place in the context of the political relationship and strategic trust between Vietnam and Laos continuing to be consolidated, affirming the core role and overall orientation in the relationship between the two countries.

After more than 60 years of establishment, inheritance and promotion of the special tradition between the two countries, the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic relations have continuously developed to a new height of strategic cohesion. Along with actively promoting existing cooperation mechanisms, maintaining meetings and exchanges between the two General Secretaries and senior leaders of the Party and State, the two sides reviewed and adjusted cooperation mechanisms in accordance with the realities of both sides, focusing on exchanging on strategic issues, guidelines and policies related to security and development.

With the close coordination between the two countries, many important foreign affairs activities between the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two States of Vietnam and Laos took place very successfully. The high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and the two countries had in-depth, comprehensive and substantive exchanges on core issues. Many key cooperation contents and projects were resolved, creating momentum to promote strong development of cooperation and deepen the close relationship between the two Parties and the two countries.

With the strong support of the leaders and people of the two countries, economic, cultural, educational and scientific-technical cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has seen positive changes. Defense, security and foreign affairs cooperation continues to have new developments, going into depth and effectiveness, becoming a pillar in the relationship between the two countries. Cooperation between ministries, branches, committees of the National Assembly, Fatherland Front, mass organizations, people's organizations and localities of the two countries continues to be promoted and become more substantial.

In the context of rapid changes in the times, both Vietnam and Laos emphasized their determination to foster the bilateral relationship that will last forever. The working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, who co-chaired the 48th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, continued to affirm Vietnam's strong support for Laos' socio-economic development, as well as its efforts to maintain security, peace and stability, thereby contributing to promoting sustainable development and strengthening the special relationship between the two countries.

In the context of rapidly changing times, both Vietnam and Laos emphasized their determination to foster bilateral relations that will last forever.

At the meeting between the two Politburoes of Vietnam and Laos, the two Politburoes discussed the special relationship between the two countries, proposed goals and solutions, promoted practical cooperation, contributing to continuing to consolidate and strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. The two sides have achieved many important goals stated in the "Discussion on the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Strategy for the period 2021-2030", especially the implementation of the Agreement on Bilateral Cooperation between the two Governments of Vietnam and Laos has been deployed and achieved practical results, contributing to consolidating and developing the special, loyal and rare Vietnam-Laos relationship in the history of international relations.

At the 48th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two delegations of the two governments will review and assess the implementation of agreements in the Vietnam-Laos Cooperation Plan for the 2021-2025 period and 2025; discuss and agree on cooperation directions and tasks for the 2026-2030 period and 2026, in order to concretize the Conclusion of the Meeting of the two Politburoes of the two countries. Within the framework of the meeting, the two sides will also sign a number of important cooperation documents, contributing to realizing the cooperation orientation between the two governments in the coming time.

Co-chairing the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, Vietnam affirmed its determination to work with the brotherly Laos to effectively implement the High-Level Agreement approved by the two Politburoes at the Meeting between the two Politburoes. This is also an important occasion to evaluate the results achieved to implement the High-Level Agreements between the two countries at the 47th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee; at the same time, to exchange directions for implementing the Agreement between the two Politburoes in 2025 and the results of the 48th Meeting, in order to bring the cooperation contents into more substance and effectiveness in the coming time.

Wishing Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee a great success, continuing to create new momentum to contribute to promoting the development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; affirming the determination of the two Governments in realizing the Agreement between the two Politburoes, bringing the relationship between the two countries to the level of strategic engagement.
