The main causes are the transportation of breeding stock, the development of aquaculture, agricultural production, tourism, and the increasingly obvious impact of climate change. This situation can lead to habitat degradation, seriously affecting bird populations and the conservation value of the areas.

Bac Lieu Bird Garden Nature Reserve (Hiep Thanh ward) has diverse flora and fauna.
In order to strengthen monitoring, control and habitat restoration, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has submitted Document No. 515 to the Provincial People's Committee requesting approval of the policy to expand the scope of the Project "Eradicating and controlling invasive alien species in nature reserves in Ca Mau province" to the old Bac Lieu reserves, integrating them into the common management database after the merger.
Specifically, the scope of project expansion in nature reserves includes: Bac Lieu Bird Garden Nature Reserve, Canh Dien Hamlet Species and Habitat Conservation Area, Ap Lap Bird Garden; Coastal Mangrove Forest Nature Reserve and Riverine Natural Ecosystem.
The objective of expanding the scope is to conduct additional surveys, update the current distribution status, and create a list of invasive or potentially invasive alien species, thereby integrating common data into the management system of Ca Mau.
Staff of Bac Lieu Bird Garden Nature Reserve patrol and manage animal and plant species.
The implementation contents include: collecting information related to alien organisms; investigating and assessing the current status of alien organisms in nature reserves; analyzing and cataloging alien species; describing the origin, morphological characteristics, biology, ecology and distribution of species, showing the current distribution status on the map.
Thereby, assessing the impact of alien species on the ecosystem, biodiversity and environment; proposing solutions for management, prevention, containment and control and building a database on the WebGIS platform; organizing training for staff of conservation areas on identifying invasive and potentially invasive alien species and implementing specific solutions to eradicate invasive alien species.
The total proposed budget for the Project extension is over VND 765 million, with an implementation period of 12 months from the date the project is approved.
